Elmander signs for Galatasaray

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

Elmander's "next big move" I couldn't give a shit about, and if he can't pull the shirt on one last time and play his guts out (something he has ALWAYS done) then yeah, good riddance to him.
Why would he be motivated to do that?

simple professional pride - home fans - he's never given us reason to believe he has no professional pride - his attitude has never really been in question.

Professional pride is one thing but he's effectively a Galatasaray player on loan to us so I don't see him putting himself on the line for a meaningless end of season game. There's no benefit to him going all out today, he does not need to play for his place in the side and nor does he need to impress another potential employer. All he needs to make sure is that he comes through the game unscathed, conciously or subconciously that will be on his mind. Maybe start him on the bench and sub him on later if he wants.

Elmander has never, ever, given less than 100% in any game.

Shit on for leaving us if you will, but if he plays, I'm confident he'd play with his all.

Could mean he'll be playing with a bit more freedom?

I would never question Elmo's commitment, he always gives his all.
Pfffft.

I just can't think of anyone for whom the Turkish club scene is less suited. If he doesn't click immediately the fans there will eat him alive.

I wouldn't play him. It'd be a case of best of luck to you and goodbye. We didn't play him last week when he was looking to secure a move elsewhere so why play him this week. So we can give him some sort of glorious send off? I don't think so. Elmander's given a professional account of himself while he's been here, he's not exactly endeared himself to the fans and we've not exactly endeared ourselves to him. That criticism would've dogged him while he's been there and it'll still be there after he's gone. Record signing contributing a fraction of what we paid for him only to leave without us getting any sort of payment for him. At least when Ricketts decided to go he went and got us £2.5m in the process.

It's a shame but in my opinion i'd rather give Tope Obadeyi a game and see how well we cope with the plaers we will have as opposed to the ones we wont have. After all this games a precursor to next season, not an Elmander love in. Bloke doesn't need the jeering and we certainly don't need to be critical on a day where we should be reflecting on a good season.

Thats just hyperbolic nonsense. Theres not one player at the club who could claim that record. Maybe Stuart Holden. Maybe.

I'd say Elmander has worked his arse off in every game I've seen him.

Overall, the lad was a soft un. His finishing was erratic, he wasn't strong enough to stand up to Prem defences and mentally he never really got over that first season where Megson thought it right to lump the ball up to him.

Embarrassing booing today. Embarrassing. Happy that the applause just about muffled the boos when he went off. An amusingly doomed attempt to get a chant of Johan Elmander, to the tune of all our chants, failed miserably though!

Its amazing, everytime I've seen Diouf play against Bolton he gets a rousing reception and heroes return. For what exactly? Declaring he wanted to leave a sinking ship before the end of his contract in the post match interview on the last day of the season. Thats before his on field antics(spitting at De Zeezu in a Bolton shirt etc).

Compare that to Elmander who whatever you may think of his level of ability has put in 100% performances week in week out and served out his contract. You can't ask for anymore than that and yet he gets a round of boos. I just don't understand it, completely embarrassing imv.

Elmander was/is the better player too.

Boos were embarrasing, but meh.
