Elmander signs for Galatasaray

There ARE other teams(we'd have no-one to play otherwise) and here's where all-comers can discuss the wider world of football......

It'd come out a whole lot sooner if he'd just tell it.

Elmander is a far better player than Diouf.

And has worked his fooking socks off for us.

Glad the boos were drowned out by a round of applause as he left the field.

I don't buy that. Two very different players with completely different temperaments, and Dioufs was better suited to Bolton circa 2004-5.

Diouf is stronger, has a better touch, was even slightly better in the air, and could beat a man (though usually falling on his arse was preferable).

Mandy was a better finisher and passer but was even quite erratic with this

I thought it was scandalous that he was boo-ed at all and he should have had the standing ovation that he deserved when he went off; not the half-hearted muffled send-off he actually got.

Whatever you feel about his ability, nobody can deny he has given everything in every game, and yesterday was no exception. If he had ANY thoughts about changing his mind about going then I'm sure the boos yesterday put paid to that.

Felt very uneasy and disgusted by his treatment by some yesterday

Not sure bout this Diouf was quality for us back then and each season produced for us, Elmander started the season superb and then was played in midfield which he can't do. Previous to this we paid him £50K a week for 2 year where he scored less than 10 goals in 2 seasons and was wasted. Cracking he can run around and work his socks off but the end of the day im glad to be saying bye to him and using his wages on 3 other younsters which is gunna shot us up to Europa glory lol

He wasn't a better player for us than Diouf.

Pretty similar, if you reverse the order of their performances. But Diouf was associated with a much more successful team, so he can't be so glibly dismissed.

I'd imagine that he'll have considered the club to have bid him in the bollocks.

Unless theres some salacious gossip afoot, I'd imagine its as simple as Galatasaray offering more than we were prepared to, if we were prepared to offer anything at all. Thats football.

Indeed - unusually revealing of Coyle to say the wages were big. Renewal at that level would surely have been Elmo's lowest expectation; if we weren't prepared to do that and Cimbom were, it makes sense all round for him to leave.

With the club not in mortal danger (cue knee-jerk contracts like, ooh, Shittu's) and having abandoned the idea of signing ageing superstars (Petrov gamble aside), I would strongly suspect the new model would be middling wages, with long contracts for the best prospects. Would fit in with Coyle's team-based philosophy.

Thats just hyperbolic nonsense. Theres not one player at the club who could claim that record. Maybe Stuart Holden. Maybe.
I'd say Elmander has worked his arse off in every game I've seen him.
So did David Reeves. He was 4ucking shit as well!
and the Bo Hansen award goes to...... 8)

From the youth/reserve teams or Europe or the lower leagues?

You're reading it wrong, Hoboh. He's turned down a new contract with us to join Glassashtray.

All that. Wherever. Pratleys (lower-leaguers ready for step up), Wilsheres (big-club fringe-men in need of game-time), Rodrigos (talented kids from the continent).

Elmander issues withering attack on Bolton over failure to offer deal

By Chris Wheeler

Johan Elmander has blamed Bolton's failure to make him an improved contract offer for forcing his hand over a move to Galatasaray.

The club opened negotiations with their £8.2million record signing in November, offering to extend his £50,000-a-week deal by one year or agree a new one on a lower basic salary with better bonuses, but Elmander chose to see out his contract and move to Turkey on a free transfer.

He said: 'I didn't get something good from the club, so I didn't have to decide anything.
'We had a talk in November and didn't really hear anything after that.'

The Sweden striker praised manager Owen Coyle, hinting he might have stayed at the Reebok if the Scot had replaced Gary Megson sooner.
Elmander added: 'I'm going to be a little bit sad because Owen Coyle changed my football career. He helped me find love again for football.
'You never know what might have happened if Coyle had been here from the start but it would have made the world a little bit easier.'

How in the feck is that a 'withering attack on Bolton' ?

probably amounts to a "withering attack" from this punchless non-striker. like being savaged by a dead sheep (sic)
pretty clear we weren't arsed either way
