all talk and no trousers??

In April, government spending was £2.6 billion ahead of a year ago at £54.1 billion.

that's April 2011 - no government has EVER borrowed as much in April - no, not even Gordon...

So second, you've got to get on with it.

You need to start the process of bringing spending down now.

In practice that means that the substantial increase in spending next year, which is currently planned by Labour, is unaffordable.

Why?

Because if consumers, markets and businesses get the message that government wants to carry on spending and isn't serious about dealing with the deficit, they will start to conclude that the UK is no longer a safe place to invest in, spend in or build a business in.

The Conservatives would start to cut public spending straight away if they won the General Election, shadow chancellor George Osborne has said.

No one said it would be easy, but most of us didn't promise that it would be done straight away...

I didn't say there was an issue. The people to whom I referred did. On many occasions. In the lead up to the last Election.

I was merely suggesting that they must've been wrong in their assertions...

I might have put this in the angry thread - but Bobo wouldn't like it! - I guess it is political...

U.S. Congress gave Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu 29 standing ovations on Tuesday. Twenty-nine. Unbelievable, given what his speech contained.

Here’s a taste of what Netanyahu said, and Jewish Voice for Peace’s debunking of it:
“You don’t need to send American troops to Israel, we defend ourselves.“

Not true. Israel does not defend itself. Israel is historically the number one recipient of US foreign aid. The US gives Israel a whopping $3 billion a year in aid and military equipment, most of which is used to defend Israel’s illegal occupation.

“In Judea and Samaria, the Jewish people are not occupiers.” (Raucous standing ovation.)

Not True. Israel’s nearly 44-year long occupation of Palestinian territories is illegal according to international law. The more than 500,000 Jewish Israelis who have been moved into the West Bank and East Jerusalem since 1967 are settlers who occupy Palestinian land – much of it privately owned by Palestinians and stolen by Jews the rest of it expropriated by the Israeli state – all taken for exclusive Jewish use. This is occupation.

Moreover, “Judea and Samaria” are the biblical terms for that piece of land. Is Bibi suggesting a state based not on secular law but on the Bible? A Jewish theocracy? Is this the Israel that the U.S. Congress promotes?

“You don’t need to export democracy to Israel. We’ve already got it.”

Not true. Within Israel, the 20% of Israeli citizens who are Palestinian do have the right to vote and run for office. But they are victims of systematic housing, workplace and resource discrimination. For example, 93% of Israeli land is reserved for Jews. In the West Bank, more than 2 million Palestinians live under Israeli occupation—that is, their lives are ruled by Israeli military law, while their Jewish settler neighbours are subject to Israeli civil law. Another 1.5 million Gazans live under siege by the Israeli military. Is this democracy?

“Jerusalem must never again be divided. Jerusalem must remain the united capital of Israel.”

Not true. The original UN charter that created Israel, as still recognized by the international community, identified Jerusalem as an internationalized zone that must be shared by all parties.

Good to see the residents of Salford putting Mr Cameron's tough on crime policy proposals to the test - right to defend your property v knife crimes...

http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-New ... _Of_Murder" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

So do they get off because they were defending their house, or do they get stuffed because they used a knife?

Good to see the three burglars that got away have come forward to help Police with their enquiries.

Medal for the victims of such a terrible crime like burgalry and sixteen years each for the handed themselves in burglars (remind them it would have been 25 otherwise)

I'd put this in the angry thread - but Hoboh would be angry!!

today it's Ed Milliband - politicians fake breast-beating - fake apologising - fake humility when you know full well they intend to do cock-all about it...

bleat-bleat-bleat - we lost contact with working people - bleat bleat bleat - well - the labour party lost contact with "working people" (is the phrase "working class" now banned Ed??) decades ago - and it was deliberate - 100% deliberate - then, as now, you are far too busy sucking up to "middle england" and trying to prove you are a friend to the fat-cats...

well - feck off until you mean it. words... words... words....

don't bleat and whine about "learning the lessons" until you can be specific about what those lessons are and how we will see you have learned them..

"we have to learn the lessons" is about the most weasle-tit thing a politician can say nowadays....
