What are you watching tonight?

If you have a life outside of BWFC, then this is the place to tell us all about your toilet habits, and those bizarre fetishes.......

Watched an Algerian-French co production called Days of Glory (in French and Arabic, subtitled) which was set in World War 2 and would have been unremarkable and over-familiar in its depiction of war but for the fact that it followed the fortunes of an Algerian unit engaged in the liberation of France from 1943-45 (based on historical fact). The oppressed help to liberate their oppressors and get no thanks and little recognition. Good movie. Intriguing subject.

Then BBC 4 again for part two of no direction home. Loved.

Watched "This Is England 86" through again last night, still find it excellent viewing; hilarious, depressing, upsetting and inspiring in equal measure.

Roll on This Is England 90!

I didn't know she had, fair play to her! Did it win any other awards?

After a quick check, it seems that a one off christmas special has been filmed and currently being edited entitled This Is England 88, which will be then followed by another mini series set in 1990.

Slight worry that it may be too much and dilute it a bit, but if its anywhere near as good as 86 then Im not complaining.

I must be one of the few people who never saw much of that despite hearing all the glowing reports. Another one for the list. Mind you people raved about Boardwalk Empire and that's just meh.

Boardwalk Empire was great, nay amazing, once you'd struggled with the initial "what the fook is going on here then"?

But if you like Pacific you will LOVE Band of Brothers!

Watched it last night and thought very much the same. Thomas McCarthy's an excellent director, you should check out his other films The Station Agent and The Visitor if you've not seen them already.

Indeed it is, but as has been mentioned it's nowhere near as good as Band of Brothers'

Sky Atlantic is a superb channel though...

Curb your enthusiasm is brilliant too!

I watched that "All watched over by machines of loving grace" last night.

I don't know the name of the guy who writes and narrates them, but he;s always been consistently excellent. This series appears to be no exception.

I just hope he's not a bit of a nob in real life like that Niall Ferguson. Really spoiled it for me that.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
