He's Alive!

So, in the same week we have seen a photo of Sean Davis and now an article on McCann!

For those with naughty filters:
McCann Enjoying Latest Chapter Of Career

After bringing his playing career to an end with Bolton Wanderers, Gavin McCann says that he is thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to continue his association with the club in a coaching capacity.

The seasoned midfielder was forced into retirement at the age of 33 having struggled with a long-standing ankle complaint over the past year-and-a-half.

McCann's last appearance in a Bolton shirt was at the Emirates Stadium in January 2010 when he was forced from the field in just Owen Coyle's second game in charge.

But now the former Everton, Sunderland and Aston Villa man has started a fresh chapter in his footballing journey having ventured onto the world of coaching by assisting in the youth set-up at the Bolton Wanderers Academy.

Speaking exclusively to the official website, McCann said: "Unfortunately I've had to call it a day. I first picked-up the injury against Wolves back in 2009 and it's never been right since.

"I played a few games after but it was in January 2010, just after the Gaffer had taken over, when I realised that I needed to have an operation in the aim of trying to get in sorted once and for all.

"I had the surgery shortly after and I was aiming to get back to fitness for the start of pre-season last summer.

"I was still struggling though and after speaking to the surgeon then it was decided that I should call it a day. There are times now when the ankle is sore and aches, and further down the line I will need another operation.

"But I have give thanks to the staff at Bolton, particularly the Club Doctor and Gaffer because they were accommodating and let me still train and use the facilities at the club as I tried to get back to fitness, even though my contract had expired.

"I mentioned to Jimmy Phillips, who heads up the Academy, that I would like to get involved with coaching the kids and he was really helpful.

"I started by helping out with the Under-15s and Under-16s working with the likes of former professionals Nicky Spooner and Neil Pointon, plus Jake Wigley.

"I was also part of the Under-14s coaching team at the Nike Tournament in Warwick, where the lads participated against other Premier League sides. Credit to the lads because they did well and most of them will still be young enough to play again next season.

"There's a really good set-up in the Academy and there are some kids showing great promise for the future years.

"I've completed my UEFA Level Three coaching badge over the last year with Jack Trainer, who runs the coaching qualifications through the club. My next target is to complete my UEFA 'A' Licence and see where it takes me."

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.
