but he is not a legend in my eyes, just because he's happened to be here for ages? hes never been any good, never scored many goals, and is always injured. i like him yes, but i dont idolise him like Super John

Re: Ricardo Gardner
I was looking for an image of him after he scored past Bayern, but there doesn't seem to be a decent one. But I think this has got to be the best one anyway. I'd get onekeveh wrote:So, just knocked up an image for the Gardner tshirt, just going along the same theme.
It would be good to release a Legends range to be honest, I know people have wanted McGinlay one for a while. That could continue to Worthington, Lofthouse etc etc
Anyway, here's the image:

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

Never scored many goals? Would that be because for half his career here he played at left back?

Good player, Jamaica captain and a true Bolton Wanderer. Wish we had eleven players as no-good as Ricky G. He can have "legend" for me anytime.General Mannerheim wrote:Legend is a word bounded about to easily these days, is a fecking annoying phrase bounded about to easily by journalists these days!

Re: Ricardo Gardner
I'm fully behind everything the club is doing. Like the quotes from today said, we can't afford to have senior players on big contracts only for them to spend most of the time injured.
From a players point of view, i.e. Ricky, 32 isn't that old and when he came back from injury he did pretty well. A one-year contract may be fair enough considering he's over 30, but a pay-cut too? I guess his agent is working out if he can get more money from PNE or somewhere else.
Maybe if he were to sign for another year he'd get a testamonial as a sweetener.

The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

Re: Ricardo Gardner
I'd be amazed if a League One clubb could match us.
There might be a few championship ones knocking around that could, but after all this time here, is he going to want to schlep all the way around the country?
I have a feeling he'll sign.

Good luck to the lad, I'm gutted he's leaving though. I take it this means that there will be no testimonial for him? Hopefully they'll give him one regardless of what club he is at next season

Re: Ricardo Gardner
Good luck Ricky. Heard that we didn't make him much of an offer and coyle was never that keen on him and the feeling was kind of mutual.
Good servant to the club. Wish him all the best personally but hope his new club fails miserably!
