Given that he'd have the option of just walking out in a year and being one of the most sought after free-agents in the continent (26 year old England regular on a free), we'd have to kidnap relatives to get him to sign a new deal with us.TANGODANCER wrote:If that happens, extend his contract and keep him. If he's as good as the money he'll keep improving and having a quality centre-back wll hardly hurt us.Tombwfc wrote:Al Habsi has two more years, Cahill only one. Christ we're going to be in trouble if we don't find a buyer for Cahill this summer.

Does anyone follow Ali on Twitter? it seems he is desperate for a move the way he talks. He has put a link up of him being link to Villa. Asking Wigan fans to ask for his best saves this season. Always going on about how he loves playing for them Its all as if he is trying to advertise himself through Twitter. I don't think he we play for Bolton again. £3.5 million! Done

To be fair to him, there's no reason at all for him to believe Jussi's positon is unsafe. He's entitled to do what's best for him. If anything, him touting himself around is good for us too.

So they like him then, right? I understand your point about goalkeeper values being lower than strikers, but I don't see how his value has been diminished by him demonstrably proving that he's their best player – and therefore, considering his position and theirs, probably the reason they're still in the damn division.CrazyHorse wrote:And that's before you factor in that Wigan have already paid us a loan fee of £1million and paid him what, £2million for a years wages already?
Having other teams interested can't hurt, either.

His value hasn't been deminished; I've never said it has. It's clearly gone up. But like I said before, more likely gone up from £1.5mil to £2mil.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:So they like him then, right? Obviously I'm happy to be proven wrong about this when we accept a bid from Wigan in the region of umpteen million quid but I can't see it.
Put yourselves in the shoes of any other Premiership teams fans. They'd think it hilarious if Wigan paid £5mil for Bolton's reserve goalkeeper. As indeed would I.

Personally i'd like him to stay but it all depends on what Coyle decides to do with the number 1 shirt.
I seen Al Habsi up at Middlebrook this afternoon outside Asda and asked him if he is staying. He just said he hopes so
i said you don't wanna go to Wigan and probably get relegated. He just laughed

I can't help but agree with the £2m-£2.5m range. Year left on contract, player already got hump and wants off. It's realistic

Well he does seem to be available and Bolton want 5 million for him. Doubt we will get it, but hopefully we will get more than the 1.5-2.5 being touted on this board.

Hmmm maybe I should look for a job in player valuations!

I'm sure he probably says the same thing to the Wigan fans.ChrisC wrote:Personally i'd like him to stay but it all depends on what Coyle decides to do with the number 1 shirt.

Yes, yes, yes. That's all well and good - but still no-one's come up with an answer as to why he used to take to the field in such an embarrassing manner!

He's at Wembley there, see! Still walks out making an absolute cock of himself!
