I once, aged 19, determined that, come hell or (low) water I WAS going to get the the sea. About an hours march later & seemingly no closer to it I gave up.

Idiots on horses on the road, came up behind one last night and could not work out what she was doing, then it twigged, she was on her mobile phone!

I fckin hate horse riders. You need to be 17, have a licence, pay tax, undergo specialised training and pass several tests to use a car on the road yet they'll let a six year old girl out and about on a half tonne animal with a mind of its own on the roadways.

They also give you funny looks as you drive past them as though driving a vehicle on a road, is well, something that shouldn't be done. Not when there is a horse there.

couple of weeks ago -out on the bike - slowed down bcause of appoaching equine feckers - the woman on board the horse motioned me to stop... as she trotted past - she said - "he's ok wih cars as long as they go slow - but he's scared of motorbikes..." well - I thought - perhaps he shouldn't be on the fecking road????

No problem with the horses gentlemen, right at the top of the tree along with pushbikes, both forms of transport should be subject to registering and insurance if used on the highway. Imagine the hassle to get a 14 yr girl or parents to pay for damage to the car!!!!!
Also they should have too by law pass some sort of test to prove they are competent and protective clothing such as used on motorbike compulsory, not the obscene old woman frightening lycra used currently!!!!!!!!

indeed - not to be mocked! my little piaggio did 256miles to the gallon and had a top speed of 68MPH (downhill with following wind!) dunno why everyone isn't on one in these fuel-povery-sricken times...

Honda CB500S

My last bike was a Honda CB900F2 and I got rid in 1996. It weighed an absolute ton but was a fantastic bike. Capable of almost instant acceleration to 30 away from lights and up to 70 in the blink of an eye. I occasionally took a Saturday evening video back to Blockbuster at Westhoughton and then, on a whim, diverted for a morning around the Lakes I was walking through Ambleside a couple of weeks ago when I saw an almost identical bike but a 900F rather than F2 and stopped for a chat with the owner. Happy days.
