Celtic boss Neil Lennon is set to turn down a £2million bid from Bolton counterpart Owen Coyle for star midfielder Beram Kayal.
Trotters gaffer Coyle was greatly impressed with Kayal’s performances for the Hoops during the second half of the 2010/11 campaign.
And the Glasgow-raised manager is keen to bolster his squad at the Reebok Stadium this summer by landing the 23-year-old Israeli internationalist.
However, Lennon values the player he signed from Maccabi Haifa greatly and the Parkhead club will reject the offer.
Kayal’s agent is currently in talks with Celtic chiefs about significantly increasing the tough-tackling star’s £7,000-a-week wage packet.

We should just offer 50p in transfer fee and let it be known we'll treble his wages through the media.
Anyway, is he any good?

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Yes. busy, comfortable on the ball, good range of passing. and hard enough mentally not to go missing in Old Firm games as so many "good" foreign players do. be a good buy.
and for those who think the SPL is all sh*te a reminder Charlie Adam was a bench warmer at Rangers.
could be the exception that proves the rule though

Re: Beram Kayal
Really don't see your problem with buying someone from the SPL. The player is as good as his abilities, not the league he plays in.
If Stuart Holden- from MLS nobody to our best player- doesn't prove that, then not much will.
Kris Boyd was a goal poacher against rubbish defences where he was getting like 8 good chances a game. Struggled at Boro- like everyone else- perhaps the service wasn't there? He's gone to Notts Forest and found himself much more comfortable.
Kayal has gone into Celtic and in his first season, comfortably outshone Scott Brown and Ki Sung Yong (Lee's mate).
There aren't many players I'd take from the SPL, but I'd have Kayal, Izaguirre and Steven Davis in our first team. Interestingly, none of them are Scottish.
Personally, don't think we'll be able to get him, but nice to see we are looking.

I wouldn't systemactically say no to an SPL player, because he's an SPL player, but I'd be wary of the overhyping that league can give someone who is average or bad in the Prem.jimbo_bwfc wrote:Really don't see your problem with buying someone from the SPL. Lets be honest though, the difference between signing Holden and Kayal is Holden was a freebie, not quoting millions of pounds like Celtic'll want. And it doesn't mean that all MLS players have premier league potential, just that through good scouting/good luck we got one that does.
That said, I've seen little of him, although Celtic fans seem to rate him highly. If Coyle thinks he's good enough, then I'd trust his judgement over any of ours.

Ki has been their standout player, James, not your mate.jimbo_bwfc wrote:Really don't see your problem with buying someone from the SPL. The player is as good as his abilities, not the league he plays in.

Not sure you'd find many Celtic fans who agree with you there, Chris.

Would be delighted with signing Kayal. As we all know, we have been short in that department and he is more than capable of stepping in there.
