You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Martinez staying at Wigan.
Running out of candidates.

This say's he's ready to join, and that seems to be the general opinion within the last half an hour.

So they weren't happy with Benitez's demands for a transfer budget. Surprised they even bothered to interview him, the prick.
Re: Coyle joint favourite for Aston Villa job
I don't think they will go for Coyle because he hasn't had enough time managing at Premiership level. I think they will go for Martinez or Woy at West Brom.

Martinez has had the same amount of time managing in the Prem as Coyle... Coyle has more managerial experience...
I imagine it maybe more down to price than to experience.
Professionalism, the last refuge of the talentless

Not worried about this. Expect Martinez to get the job.

Really? feels like Martinez has been around forever

How much would it cost to buy Saint Owen out of his contract here though? Plus back room staff?
I know that a £4m was quoted when he made the stellar leap from Burnley to the Bok?

Pfffft.

Must admit, it's got me thinking about potential next BWFC managers... and even if Villa persuade Martinez, it's bound to come round again if Coyle continues to impress...

that is the peril of having a good manager

Villa must be a bit up shit creek if their two top options are managers who have about 4 years top flight experience between them and who have a highest finish record of correct me if I'm wrong 14th.
Martinez won't go there he'll stick with Wigan as Whelan suggests! Coyle will not go either IMO. Needs to prove himself here first.

If Martinez does leave. With Villa needing a keeper now Freidel is gone, will that mean we stand to get more for Al Habsi?
As long as the wind blows, fortunes can change.

Could do. Might not even approach him.truewhite15 wrote:Riiight...so who's to say our Owen won't do the same?jimbo_bwfc wrote:Word is he's rejected them.

From Ollie Kay:
"Spoke to #BWFC people yesterday. They're surprised Coyle hasn't been approached but they think he'd turn it down in any case"
In fairness, if you were Coyle, you'd look at that and say they've looked at least three other managers before me, hard job, high expectations during a period of uncertainty where the best three players have left in the last three seasons (Barry, Milner and now Young), I'm pretty set up and safe here at Bolton and if I'm not getting Villa into the top 8 next season I'll probably be out of a job and be deemed to have not been ready to take a big club on.
Undoubtably a step-up but is the Villa job that attractive?

In an article in today's BN, praising OC, Phil Garside claims his future is at the Reebok despite being linked with the Villa job. Sounds positive?
