What news is that?
Martinez as manager?
Or the wonderful Benitez rumour?

Please be Benitez. I think it's Whelan in love with Al Habsi more than Martinez. I think it'll get done regardless of the manager.
What could've happened; did.

That's actually good tactic for Wenger. Roll out Samba for Stoke, Us, Wolves etc and save the namby-pamby midget defenders for tippy-tappy Europe matches. Wenger would be amenable to a player swap. I'd take Eboue, Clichy etc.

I can't see how Benitez would affect us? :conf:

Apparently Martinez has been given permission to speak to Villa by Whelan.

Depends whether Martinez wants him too (which I presume he probably does), remember Friedal's just left Villa and I'd guess that Al Habsi may be tempted to join him there.

Wouldn't fancy many of Arsenal's defence tbh so hope we're trying to fix holes elsewhere if Wenger's throwing in fringe players.

that'd be a bit of a come-down for Wenger - looking to Blackburn and Bolton for quality players.... ouch!

Jesus, it'd be a worrying thought if they threw in any defenders... I'd be tempted if they threw in a couple of the young 'uns...

Say Emmanuel-Thomas and Lansbury... Both have done alright in the Championship...

If we could get say Vela added to the mix as well, then you could argue with the exception of a replacement for Cahill it'd be most of our summer shopping done...

according to ThePremierLeagueOwl
Bolton want Birmingham forward Cameron Jerome, but are only willing to pay £5m for him. Rightly so you say, but unfortunately Birmingham believe his value to be closer to £8m. Frankly, if Bolton agree to pay £8m for him then they deserve to follow his current club through the trapdoor. Silly money.

SupaDupaJohn has some SPL ideas....
Former Bolton Wanderers striker Sir John McGinlay is backing manager Owen Coyle to boost his squad by shopping in Scotland.

Coyle would not be averse to raiding the SPL and McGinlay believes Dundee United's David Goodwillie could be on his radar following the departure of Johan Elmander.

"Given Coyle's knowledge of football in Scotland, you do wonder if he might be inclined to pick up one or two of the younger talents in the SPL," McGinlay told the Daily Mail.

"Owen has an eye for a bargain and I am sure he has some deals up his sleeve for Bolton.

"David Goodwillie at Dundee United is an interesting player and so was Connor Sammon - I'm surprised Bolton didn't challenge Wigan a bit more when he left Kilmarnock in January."

Cameron Jerome at £8m, has the world gone absolutely stark raving mad??

He's not worth 8p

On the Studge front, according to BBC Gossip this morning both Lukaku and Neymar and being cited as replacements for the outgoing Drogba. It could be a sign again that Abramovich would rather sign players than keep a natural scorer in the Studge
Pfffft.

No mention of a club but i would assume that something is already sorted, declaring goodbye and cutting the ties. I think he still has around 3 weeks of the contract left so although people cant sign pre-contract agrrements i'm sure they can get round this somehow...!

Oh and as for Arsenal - they have some very good young players, even defenders – Wenger's back-end blindspot has been signing, not developing. Anyone coming through their academy should* be able to pass the ball well; what they need thereafter is better defensive coaching, a real-life finishing school. I wouldn't be against us having, for instance, Kieran Gibbs - although they seem to rate him too highly and he's just got injured yet again.
*Muamba, for all his other strengths, being a possible exception

I think Arsenal are deseperate to get rid of Eboue, Denilson, Bendtner among others...not that i think any of them would remotely relish the prospect of dropping from Arselona to Bolton, shite as they may be.

I don't think Eboue or Bendtner are shite (not sure about denilson) - they would both instantly improve our current first team.
