Latest from LF is Amor es Perros (Roughly translated as Love is a Bitch). I think it's a fantastic film - though the scenes of dog fighting were so violent and vicious that I was turning away from the screen.

It's about transgressive or tainted love of various kinds - (in a tough, poor district man falls in love with his elder brother's wife, in wealthy Mexico man leaves wife and two daughters for famous model, man who left wife and daughter twenty plus years ago to fight as a guerrilla against the government tries to find a way back to the daughter who thinks he is dead, two brothers are business partners, and both want to kill the other and look for a contract killer).

The different strands keep crossing.

It's also about dogs - stray street dogs, fighting dogs, pampered pet dogs.

After a NASA deep-space probe crash lands in Mexico, alien life forms spread throughout the U.S.–Mexico border region, leading to the quarantine of the northern half of Mexico. The U.S. and Mexican militaries battle to contain the creatures, while a wall stretching along the American border ostensibly keeps the United States protected.

The film begins with night vision footage of a US Army patrol driving through a town in the middle of the night. One of the soldiers is humming Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries". An explosion flips one of the vehicles, and flashes of gunfire show US soldiers firing at an enormous tentacled creature. In the background, a radio transmission from one of the soldiers obtains approval for a dangerously close air strike.

Meanwhile, a civilian screams for help and attempts to drag a woman off the road and away from the creature. The soldiers withdraw as the man is left behind, lifting the woman and trying to carry her away. Moments later, an air-to-ground missile homes in on the creature.

Is it any good? Sounds a bit like Cloverfield which I enjoyed. Didn't they just turn up and film some of the scenes wherever they could with or without permission to do so?

Turned it off I couldnt watch dogs in distress, though I know Im missing a damn good film!

Have you tried the Argentinian film I was banging on about a while ago yet; "The Secret In Their Eyes"? Ah what a great film

Yep. It was your first post that made me go for it. Gave it 5 stars on LF. And posted about it on here. It's a fantastic film.

I know what you mean about the dog fighting sequences, as I posted above, I was stood up turning away, almost out of the room during those... but it's worth trying to persevere - it really is an excellent film.

Tonight I watched The Spirit of the Beehive, from Spain in 1973, when that total bastard Franco was coming to the end of the long murderous crawl on his 35 year Fascist dictatorship, and allegory was the only way to slip in a subversive message. It's really good.

It's bugging me, but I think elements of the story - and even scenes from the film - are reminiscent of the 1961 really sweet film 'Whistle Down the Wind'. Just ordered this from LF!

I commited to buy Keeping up Apperances S 3-4 for $15 on Ebay.

I got myself Commisioned to buy some dvds for a friend.
The other Week I got him a WWE Cage Match dvd, TNA Cross the line double pack and TNA Genesis.

Today I got him UFC 26 & 27 and the Smurfs 1st Movie.

Went to JB today and had a look, Found Terminator Salvation Tshirt pack for $16!! (usually 50+) (the $13 version doesn't have bonus features, I really need Bonuses).
So I'll buy that Wed/Thurs

I listened to the MotoGP... I was amused to hear the commentators which went summat like this..

He spun off due to Buttons pressure, one of the best drives I have seen for a long time, Mclaren boss should take that nice person Hamilton off, show him the video of the race and tell him that's how you stay on the track you knob, stop being the British Schumacher, you do not have the right to overtake anyone and no one has to get out of your way.
