Aside from the obvious important wins (Wembley, promotions etc), some cracking bog standard league games;

6-3 v Cardiff in 1977
6-1 v Cambridge in 1981 - Len Cantello scoring one of the best goals I saw at Burnden
3-1 v Newcastle & Keegan in 82
8-1 v Walsall in 83
7-2 v Plymouth in 85? Oghani beating about 7 men before squaring it for Caldwell
3-1 v Sheff Utd around the same time - Jeff Chandler at his best
6-1 v Tottenham in the league cup
Last ever game at Burnden 4-1 v Charlton

That one against Chester City where we won 5-0 and scored 4 of them in the last 9 mins, including Winstanley.

The game was actually quite sh*te apart from the last 15 or so, but came away as shell shocked as Chester.

Thought there was only me remembered that goal
Outside of his right boot from near the Paddock into the Embankment goal from about 35yards

Watched that SheffU game in the Paddock, Lever End and Manny Rd to avoid getting a kicking
Post match, we got chased as far as The Brooklyn!

I'm gonna throw in a cup replay when we beat Spurs with a Ritson free kick

Agreed - that was a long time ago (1978) - I remember as it was a young Willy's birthday that night! :pissed:

After three seasons of absolute dross, the 5-1 against Newcastle was incredible. Some of the best football I've seen the Wanderers play. I went away from the Reebok that day convinced that Coyle was a genius and Stuart Holden would go onto to play for a very big football club.

We scored 4 though.

Being a young 'un, I loved the 3-2 away win at Birmingham with the last minute goal to put us through to Wem... *inaudible sounds*
