1. The last time you got relegated (the one before this one) - the preposterous and widely held media-view that for some unspecified reason West Ham did not "deserve" to be relegated - they would be a loss to the premier league - and that, instead - Bolton should be relegated (if there was any justice in the world) because we'd be no loss at all...

2. the vitriol that always came out of KUMB whenever we played you. Yes - it goes both ways - you don't read very far about west ham on here before you hear about "jellied eels" (I live in East London - and actually - the pie and mash shops seem to be coming back!) - but the vitriol from KUMB was directed at our football - and particularly someone they used to call Fat Sam... apparently we were the footballing equivalent of the antichrist...

3. more recently we have been very amused by your continued failure to beat us - despite all your fans quoting the phrase "you know what you're gonna get with Bolton.." - yet it always seems to take you by surprise! There is no other team that has such difficulty beating us - nowhere near - and so we have a bit of a soft spot for you!

4. all of this coupled with the ludicrous pretensions about the "academy of football" and the "we won the workd cup" and the "we're too good to go down" (the last one, admittedly, not heard as often nowadays!) - these things make you all sound faintly ludicrous to the rest of us...

that's all. we don't hate you - far from it - we are amused by you!

3. Correct, we cannot beat you. My view is that the whole "Bolton Long Ball" thing is an outdated myth. You now play good expansive football with a very good manager and talented players. Arguably, this type of football is something we SHOULD have been able to counter against, but we couldn't. That'll be thanks to tarts like Upson.

4. You cannot argue that we have not produced (yet lost) a whole host of fantastic players over the years. Regarding "We won the World Cup", have you not quite got the irony of your average West Ham fan saying that??? It's generally the equalivent of throwing a red rag to a bull. West Ham fans say it, opposition fans bite. It's really that simple. In reality, 3 players cannot, and will not, win you a World Cup alone. Next time you hear "West Ham won the world cup", just take a deep breath and remind yourself that "they are trying to wind you up". It's quite clear that the whole irony of this line gets missed, time after time, after time.

Finally, "we are too good to go down". Absolutely cobblers. Whilst there is an argument that you can have a squad that SHOULD be capable of staying afloat, you are NEVER too good to go down. You finish a season where you deserve it.

You need to get one thing straight, which you seem to be singularly unable to grasp. The object of our amusement isn't West Ham at all. It's the constant car crashes, unfolding in slow motion, that are associated with West Ham.

We have similar threads that run and run about Benetez, Wenger and a few other bits and bobs. We post on them when one of them does something we find bizarrely amusing.

Out of all of them, West Ham seem to keep doing things we find amusing.
