Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Well quoting anything but the official site is rumour and more than likely bullshit. Still no firm news of Cahill, so we're at 22 pages and counting.
Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Thats the impression i get. The player has less than 12 months left on his contract and no one has bid yet. The club is desperate to sell him, and they sound really desperate to get as much money as possible for him. But what is clear is those teams are looking for better value than Cahill. If they cant find anyone by august. They will just come to Bolton and say 12 million...take it or leave it. And they dont have much choice unless the players agrees to extend his contracthisroyalgingerness wrote:Ok, it's not "clear" as such, but the desperate re-pimping of Cahill every transfer window seems to have reached a bit of a crescendo now. If we've had no bids, and several clubs now seem to have concluded their centre half business then Coyle's plans would be in disarray. To me, the quotes now are getting fairly desperate "he could play for any club in the world" strikes me as a "feck, will SOMEONE come in and bid"

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
At which time we COULD say to club's like Arsenal, 'ok every man and his dog know you need a centre back so pay us 20 million or you don't have time to go elsewhere'. If a club wants to start the bidding last minute for cahill, which i dont think will happen, we can name whatever price we want knowing that our summer buying is done and dusted.Abs wrote:Thats the impression i get. Like i said, i dont think this is how the scenario will play out, but it is what Arsenal managers may worry is a real possibility.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
It also seems to me (not being a arsenal fan n all) that Wegner NEEDS to spend abit of money to prove his ambition, both to the fans, the club and the rest of the top 4..that is of course saying that the money is there..Wegner has tried the bargain basement before and it lost you the Carling cup.
Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
There's difference between spending money on quality and just act mad. 20 million for Cahill or henderson doesnt suddenly make them great players in my eyes. he's a good player, but Bolton is way over valuing him. Also if you dont sell him, you gonna lose him on free next season....so whats the point?wanderers_on_tour wrote:It also seems to me (not being a arsenal fan n all) that Wegner NEEDS to spend abit of money to prove his ambition, both to the fans, the club and the rest of the top 4..that is of course saying that the money is there..Wegner has tried the bargain basement before and it lost you the Carling cup.

I'd choose Cahill. No point in selling him for that littel. Look at the inflation nowadays, it would be a shame to sell him for less than £16mAbs wrote:So come august time bolton board has the option between 12 million for cahill or free next season....I wonder what they choose?

No player is worth the crazy sums that clubs with too much money pay for them these days. We don't and never have made the rules, we just follow them. Are you saying they should only apply at the snob top end, and clubs like us should know our place? If nobody meets the valuation to a sensible degree, who says he won't sign a new contract, then Cahill will stay. Young, good and a capped Englnd player, he won't just be given away to suit anybody. Right now, we have him, they want him, live with it.Abs wrote: Bolton is way over valuing him. Also if you dont sell him, you gonna lose him on free next season....so whats the point?

That's a decision to be taken in 8 weeks, if it comes to thatAbs wrote:So come august time bolton board has the option between 12 million for cahill or free next season....I wonder what they choose?
You've bigger problems with your own players - concentrate on them

If he signs a new contract...then fair play to him. But to me it looks like the player wants to leave and the club accepts that....if they cant find a seller for their valuation, then they will lower it. I would be shocked if he signs new contractTANGODANCER wrote:No player is worth the crazy sums that clubs with too much money pay for them these days. Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
If Fabregas is that good how come he can't even force himself into the Spain national teams first eleven?
And if you think Cahill is so over-rated then why bother keep coming back on here to comment?
Wanderers don't have to sell him, and what's to say that he won't sign another contract in 12 months time? Anelka signed one and we then promptly sold him for £15m

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
So the Marc Iles story is that Tottenham are now interested and willing to offer either Sebastien Bassong or Younes Kaboul. They both looked decent players until they signed for Spurs.jimbo_bwfc wrote:Few quotes from Marc Iles:
"just heard of a few interesting players who could be pushed Bolton's way in a Cahill deal. But who'll blink first?"
"Don't want 2 ruin my story for 2mrw but #thfc #afc #mcfc & #lfc have all made genuine enquiries. 1 currently stands out."
RE: 'the interesting players' "Absolutely. In same class as Boyata and Onuoha, who have already been mentioned."
Can we resurrect their careers if they were prepared to come up north, which they won't?

TOTTENHAM are ready to offer international defenders Sebastien Bassong or Younes Kaboul as part of a £17million deal to sign Gary Cahill.
Harry Redknapp is hoping to steal the march on Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City by offering Owen Coyle the pick of a dozen players he hopes to move on this summer.
England Under-21 international Danny Rose is another player thought to interest Wanderers, who have yet to have their mettle tested seriously for their prized 25-year-old defender.
Cahill wants to be playing Champions League football but with City's interest cooled considerably in the last two months and Arsene Wenger yet to fully commit to an offer – which is understood to to include young Spanish defender Ignasi Miquel – his options appear limited.
Redknapp has tracked Cahill for more than 12 months and while the young defender would prefer to stay in the North West, it looks certain he will be playing his football elsewhere next season.
Cameroon star Bassong and newly-capped France international Kaboul both found themselves in and out of Redknapp's side last season and have been linked with a return to French football.
Rose was brought back into the side at the end of last season after a successful loan spell in the Championship with Bristol City.
Speaking to The Bolton News, Coyle confirmed that a handful of top clubs had contacted chairman Phil Gartside about Cahill, but no firm offers have been received.
“There's been clubs making known their interest to Phil but nothing hard and fast,” he said.
“Gary could play for anyone, and I really mean that, so if I'm honest I'm a little bit surprised there hasn't been anything.
“Looking across the marketplace and a few of the deals that are going on at this moment in time, it does surprise me that there hasn't been that concrete offer.
“But people have to take their time and make sure they come up with the right offer because he certainly won't be going on the cheap, that's for sure.”
Cahill, signed for £5million from Aston Villa in 2008, has one year remaining on his current deal at the Reebok.
He has won three England caps during his time with the club, making 111 appearances and scoring 11 goals.
And while Coyle accepts the possibility is in doubt, he has not completely written off the former Aston Villa man still being in a Wanderers shirt when the season kicks-off against QPR in August.
“I'd love him to stay,” he said. “You want your best players at the football club and he's certainly one of those.
“But we know his own personal situation and maybe he feels it's time to fly the coop and spread his wings.
“If he does go it will be in the best interests of both Gary and Bolton Wanderers and the best business deal we could possibly do.”
Do not trust atoms. They make up everything.
