And he has a 1 goal a game ratio for England
Maybe we should sign Francis Jeffers too then.

Seeing as you've no idea what Coyle has to spend, what makes you 'think' that

I'd hazard a guess Davies, Gartside and Coyle do

And I presumed you must, seeing as you think 'we can do A LOT better than those four'

Otherwise, you'd not be thinking owt, would you...

Out of those four names, the only one I'd want us to sign would be Pratley, which is handy.

Tyrone Mears is a 28 year old who has never been a Premier League standard right-back in his life. He's nowhere near Steinsson or Ricketts.

Pratley and Mears sound ok, though I can't remember seeing them play. If they're young-ish and English then we might aswell, esp on a bosman or for a small transfer fee.

Nugent and Jerome, hmmm. Have either scored goals at Premier League level? Probably too old, too expensive and not as funny as Robbie Blake.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

Burnley fans are well pissed off about this rumour and they rate him highly, don't really know too much about him myself but it seems that he is a decent player and is well regarded so £400k could be a decent punt and Coyle obviously rates him.
freddie boswell, hugh curran, gary henshaw, ralph wright, ray train, len cantello, tadeusz nowak....those were the days!!

That may well be the case. The only time Mears has looked any good was when Burnley came up and Coyle was managing them. He looked decent enough then.

However, Ricketts won't be fit for the start of the season. Even if he is assuming Cahill goes, our only cover currently at Centre back is Ricketts. If he ends up covering there we have no right back cover.

I'm fairly certain Coyle ain't going for Mears and more certain that he would cost more than £400K. But he would add to the squad for the right price as we're not exactly flush with numbers. And we're going to need some squad numbers.

Bolton News: TOTTENHAM are ready to offer international defenders Sebastien Bassong or Younes Kaboul as part of a £17million deal to sign Gary Cahill.

Which one? Decisions, decisions...
Both 25ish.

Kaboul's bigger but a bit all over the place for my liking. New French cap though, so resale value. Can play right back. Probably more suited to it. $30K or so.

Bassong is slightly shorter 6ft2in, slightly younger but more cultured and controlled. He's reportedly on higher wages too $50k or so.

Sorry wrong phrase I guess.

More just a hunch than anything else, just that Mears wanted away last summer so if Coyle had wanted him why not then?

Just think its one of those rumours that is convenient, player coming to end of contract, needs a new deal somewhere, ok lets link him with old manager for a lowish price. Smells a bit like an agent trying to drum up interest.

Could be wrong of course.

He doesn't fit the Coyle "young and hungry" demographic though either!

Yes, that's cut and pasted. Happy about it. Better than Arsenal's 10-year-old or Citeh's not interested crew. However, I think Bassong is on too much wage wise and Kaboul will want to go back to France.
