Bassong was heavily linked with Wolves a week ago, perhaps he wouldn't be adverse to taking that step down from Spurs. Was Newcastle's best player by a mile.

Similar with Kaboul, struggled first time around at Spurs, was excellent for Portsmouth, came back a better player to Spurs, but seems Harry is looking for a higher standard of player.

Either or both would be more than adequate replacement for Cahill. They had the same sort of effect at mid-table clubs (Newcastle and Portsmouth) that Cahill has had with us.

Typical...when we actually want to sell a player, Redknapp keeps his gob shut and does things by the book !

They'd be better - financially - with us than back in France
Unless the Qataris who've just bought Paris St-Germain, appointed Leonardo their CEO and given him €130m to spend decide that before the big-name forwards they'll start off with a few unwanted EPL-standard Francophone defenders

Speaking of which, I bet Willie McKay's jizzing into his own eyes at that deal

I would rather trust LL's sources than those football rumour twitter accounts.

Anyway, can anybody really see either of those players playing for us next season?

Even then, is it that great a deal anyway? You'd imagine they value Bassong at atleast the £8mil they bought him for, possibly more. He is a good player though. I just think Onuoha is a much more likely option.

From what I've heard the issue with Onuoha is that Citeh value him at 10M plus.

I'm sure the valuation's between Bassong and Onuoha won't be too far apart and I'm not sure either represent great value (I don't know who else Owen wants money to buy). I just 'reckon' that between the two, Onuoha being here next season is a lot more likely. I have no basis for that, I just do.

Sorry but its perfectly possible that for any number of reasons players don't want to join us. But equally I think its just plain wrong to suggest that no player would leave Spurs for us just because they are "at Spurs". If they are unwanted there and have a desire to play football (which OC has as a requirement for any signing anyways) then could be a deal to suit everyone.

I agree its unlikely, but the way you're putting it we can never sign any player from a club "bigger" than ourselves. Which is just not the case.

Which one of them left a big club for us? It's pennies. If we can get close to their wages, then sure, there is no reason that personality accepting they wouldn't come here, but this is pissing Spurs. And Kaboul in particular has had three goes at signing for old Droopy, so FOOK knows what he is on. I'd have either but I don't think we could afford a wage deal for either of them, accepting that* we don't actually have the foggiest what the wages are, other than 'Spurs prices'

So Cahill to the Spuds if todays papers are to be believed. Bassong would be good, reckon we could get Niko Kranjcar thrown in too though?

OC's hinting he wants players as a part-ex otherwise the money will go towards the debt, if today's Sun report is to be believed.

The Sun report is clearly not to be believed.

1) Because we are bidding 7M for Thiago irrespective of Cahill being sold.
2) If they needed the money that desperately we wouldn't be allowed to entertain the idea of a player swap.

I fear us ending up with Kaboul; the man's a laughing stock. Remember his part in us putting four past them last year?

The thought of Knight and Kaboul at the back might just keep me awake tonight!
May the bridges I burn light your way

Today's papers, written last night, repeating yesterday's twitter rumours (aka "Sky Sources" or "The BBC understands...")

Kranjcar is being linked with Kyiv and Wolfsburg, and although he's capable of greatness he's only ever really excelled at the hub of a five-man midfield

NO QUOTES!! :whack:
Bolton chief Owen Coyle wants players in part-exchange for Cahill as a straight cash deal would end up going to help reduce their £90m debt.

Cahill can leave the Reebok if any club meets a £17m release clause.

Coyle said: "People have to make sure they come up with the right offer.

"He won't be going on the cheap, that's for sure.

"Gary could play for anyone and looking at a few of the deals that are going on right now, it surprises me there hasn't been a concrete offer."

The quotes in that from Coyle have just been taken from his live interview on SSN the other day that i made a topic about. In that interview Coyle didn't hint at any player plus cash deal and said the money would be used to add to the squad.
