Trusty old Wiki :D he is only 24. Eric Abidal has turned down a contract at Barca and is set to leave. Worth a cheeky enquiry whilst we are over there talking to the young lad? 8)

Udinese did that with Granada this season - sent them about 15 loanees - now Granada have been promoted to La Liga...

Rangers have been quoted a £2m asking price for Dundee United striker David Goodwillie after making an official approach for the player.

This is the price demanded by United chairman Stephen Thompson for the 22-year-old young player of the year.

Goodwillie, United's top scorer last season with 18 goals, is under contract at Tannadice until 2013.

One Premiership club and a Championship side are also thought to have contacted United about the Scotland cap
Haven't seen him play, and would never sign a player from the SPL, but for £2m we should DEFINITELY buy him 8)

Marc Iles (should that be MIles?) has twitterised that we are categorically NOT interested in Cleverley or Welbeck.

Thank the maker

Forgive long post, but here's confirmation straight from the Premier League rulebook that you can't have more than one loanee from the same club in the same season, let alone transfer window. This is from the rulebook for 2010/2011 (they haven't published the new season's yet). It's downloadable here (page 2). I'll sum up for the bored at the end.
6. Subject to the conditions set out below, a Temporary Transfer shall be permitted:

6.1 between Clubs; and
6.2 between a Club and a club in membership of the Football League, the Football
Conference, the Northern Premier League, the Isthmian League and the Southern League.

7. The conditions referred to in Rule M.6 are:

7.1 a Temporary Transfer to a Club may not take place in the Transfer Window in which the Transferor Club acquired the Player’s registration;
7.2 during the period of the Temporary Transfer of his contract registration a Player shall not play against the Transferor Club;
7.3 if during the period of a Temporary Transfer the Player’s registration is transferred permanently from the Transferor Club to the Transferee Club, the two Clubs may agree in writing (to be copied to the League) that the Player shall not play against the Transferor Club for the remainder of the Season;
7.4 subject to any conditions imposed by the Board in the exercise of its discretion under Rule M.4.2, the minimum period of a Temporary Transfer shall be the period between 2 consecutive Transfer Windows and the period of a Temporary Transfer shall not extend beyond 30th June next after it was entered into;
7.5 the maximum number of Temporary Transfers to any one Club registrable in the same Season shall be 4 and in no circumstances shall more than 1 be from the same Transferor Club save there shall be excluded from these numbers any Temporary Transfer of the kind described in Rule M.7.6.1 or M.7.6.2;
7.6 not more than 2 Temporary Transfers shall be registered by a Club at the same time except that there shall be excluded from that number:
7.6.1 any Temporary Transfer which become permanent; and 7.6.2 the Temporary Transfer of a goalkeeper which in its absolute discretion the Board
may allow in circumstances it considers to be exceptional;
7.7 a Club may transfer the registration of no more than one of its goalkeepers by way of temporary Transfer to another Club each Season, subject to any further Temporary Transfer of one of its goalkeepers pursuant to Rule M.7.6.2 (etc etc)
So, correct me if I'm reading this wrong:
* Maximum four loanees per season (with a minimum length of the gap between two windows, ie to Jan or Jun)
* Maximum two loanees at once
* Maximum one loanee from same club (unless you buy a loanee)

Also note that players can't be loaned out in the same window they're bought. Oh and these rules apply to domestic (English-club) loanees only - there seems to be no mention of clubs from abroad (including Scotland etc). Feel free to pore over the full 174-page document...

I think for once LL is right and this has been done for some time. Won't be announced I guess till July when he can sign a proper contract.

1 (almost) down 7 to go I suppose.....

Kudos to LL's contacts, which helped him read the newspapers. Real respect will come when Sturridge reveals that he signed a month ago and has been codding everyone on ever since...

Pratley's arrival will/would make for an interesting central midfield battle: Holden, Muamba, Mavis, Pratley, Savis – and he's still holding a torch for Thiago. Obviously not all of those will be fit for August (and at least one has a question mark over him), but it does make me wonder if OC is planning more tactical flexibility next season - you could argue that he simply didn't have the manpower last term...

Any more news on the Thiago front? Semi's tomorrow for U21s, the final must be weekend so i imagine more news will come out once he's back home. Least if its a no then it should be quick & painless..

I think it is just a nickname - Mavis Davies

Oh and almost 'text speak' where everything has to be abbreviated.

I'm with LL, hate the Mavis/Savis thing.

Hate it.

Not that it means much for me to say it, just bored and adding my tuppence.
