New mobile phone time

Post by Lofthouse Lower » Wed Jun 22, 2011 11:19 am

Got a Blackberry, and absolutely despise it.

Contract is up soon, and I want a new phone, something shiny and touchscreen.

Budget is under £35 per month - can anyone recommend a good phone then or what?

Criteria - Don't want to be an iphone wanker

HTC's are supposed to be good? Although i haven't actually used one.

Useful.

For Android phones HTC are best IMO. They have a range to suits most pockets and sizes etc..

Just bear in mind that battery life on these touch screen phones is shite compared to what you'll be used to...

I have a few friends who have switched from iPhones to Android have bought the Samsung Galaxy S2.

They love it!

I'd recommend Android it you like messing about with apps and how your screen looks, you can customise Android phones a ridiculous amount. If you just want things to be there for you to use then get an iPhone.

As a matter of interest what do you not like about the Blackberry?

The Samsung Galaxy 2 is amazing, the best android phone imho.

Can't go wrong with an iPhone 4 either.

The Sony Xperia play and Windows Phone 7 variants are good too, if you like games. SNES emulator on the Xperia Play = Heaven.

Continually breaks, had to send it back three times (repaired thrice for free, in fairness)

Internet is slow and unreliable

Signal often drops

Keys break on the keyboard

Shite!!

Not had any of these problems with mine. Wonder if you got a lemon or a refurb'd one?

Here's me thinking you wanted to change it because Nile Ranger doesn't have one.

Nah it's new, as all the replacements have been.

I just find it fiddly and unreliable - maybe that's my sausage fingers and the ozone layer at fault.

I had a blackberry and got sick of it after a month .. had a few android phones but hate the android market .. half of the apps are cheap copies of iphone apps.

So i got and iphone 4 and became an iphone wanker.. nothing comes close IMO i love it and the apps are much better. Like the SSN apps which you don't get on android.

Also if you get bored or don't like the iphone you can sell for a decent wedge.

I have the Motorola Razr V3. I can make and receive calls, surf the net, send and receive emails, photos and sms. Had it about 3 years and payg has so far cost me £30. Trouble is with the modern mobile "If it looks fragile, it probably is".
