He needs to be busier than ever as it bloody well stands now!Worthy4England wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:You know though in your heart of hearts, that it won't be the case.Lofthouse Lower wrote:Trouble with selling before buying is reminiscent of the old saying; if you throw the baby out with the bathwater, there's a real danger of a wet floor and a critically injured baby.
Therefore I have faith that he wouldn't be sacking off deadwood like Taylor and Knight (hopefully) without replacements already being signed and sealed, innit.
We are still BWFC after all.

So LL doesn't think any of our defence are any good. Our LM needs changing, Muabma is crap, Elmander has gone anyhow.
We have left, possibly Jussi (or Al Habs), Holden (who gets injured quite a lot), CYL and a 34 year old striker who doesn't score many.
Can't wait to see all these replacements. Anyone mentioned to OC that he needs to be a bit busier than he was planning?

If we're having 2 players position- then presuming Habsi, Cahill and Taylor leave and Pratley signs, we'll have;
Jussi/Bogdan
???/Steinsson
Knight/Ricketts
???/Wheater
Robinson/Jailbird(or ???)
Chung/???
M.Davies/Muamba/Davis
Holden/Pratley/Gardner
Petrov/Ward
Davies/???/Eaves
???/Klasnic/Blake
Given we've sold around 25M worth of players, plus letting five top earners go (Elmander, Taylor, Cahill, Sturridge and Al Habsi)
With therefore presumably a decent wedge to spend we need a first choice striker, a first choice centre back, at least one fullback and maybe abit of cheap backup.
In an ideal world, anyway.

Danny Ward, Danny fooking Ward.
And then Eaves, who has barely played a proper game of football in his goddamn life.
Fook me sideways. And our front two would struggle to get in the Dads Army 11, and the back up looks like he's eaten the dads army 11!
Our back up left back is shite and also won't be around for very much longer.
But its ok cos our first choice left winger is well, our second choice from the end of last season.
Super. And a Knight and Wheater partnership frightens the bezeejus out of me.
So what the hell, lets sell Taylor it'll all be reet when Nugent and Nile "I'm a gangsta" Ranger pitch up anyways! I must have been stupid to think we could do with keeping a solid, premiership player until you know we've actually got some sort of proper bona fide replacement.

Bolton are thought to be keen on signing Newcastle striker Nile Ranger, but only if they can't secure Daniel Sturridge on loan.
The Newcastle frontman played a bit part role for the Magpies last term, but showed in patches what he is capable of - scoring in Newcastle's 4-3 Carling Cup win at Chelsea.
Even after Andy Carroll's departure to Liverpool, the 20-year-old looks to be down the pecking order at St James' Park and a summer move could be on the cards, with Newcastle wanting at least £1million for the player.
Bolton are understood to be interested in a deal for Ranger, but any move could depend on their attempts to sign Chelsea starlet Daniel Sturridge on loan against next season.
Meanwhile, Premier League new boys QPR have set their sights on a free transfer deal for former Cardiff frontman Jay Bothroyd, with Ranger also their back-up option.

Signing Nile Ranger if we can't get Sturridge.

I'm not sure the difference between keeping/selling Taylor will solve any of those problems. Only that it'll drain another couple of million from the wagebill, then next year, another 4-5M down in wages we'll have to replace not only Taylor but also Petrov when both leave on a free transfer.BWFC_Insane wrote:Fook me that looks grim. This way, we recoup a couple of million, save another couple of million on his wages, that could either go towards a replacement left winger or towards a better player in a much more dangerous position- rather than ending up with Ranger and Nugent or with a Knight/Wheater partnership, we might have some money towards a better player- rather than keeping an expensive half-decent left midfielder who is never going to get any better or any more valuable than he is today.
Ward as back-up, fine.
Eaves as a 5th/6th choice striker, fine.

Coyle's missing a trick here. He could solve all our problems with Nugent on a free and swoop in for Varney for just £750kyurksure evnin purst also wrote:Portsmouth will replace out-of-contract striker Dave Nugent with Blackpool forward Luke Varney who is available for around £750,000.

It would mean Petrov wouldn't be our first choice and we wouldn't be relying on Danny Ward when Petrov sulks or decides he can't be arsed.jimbo_bwfc wrote:I'm not sure the difference between keeping/selling Taylor will solve any of those problems. If Daniel is available on loan i would be surprised if he turned us down unless a top 6 side in Europe comes in for him.

Hopefully the new Chelsea manager won't use Sturridge and will let him come to us.

I'm going to go and play Champ Man for a bit...
Must be able to do better than that..
Eaves as 4th choice striker behind SKD (34), Klasnic, 3 games a season if you add up all his appearances & Blake (108).
Yeah - lets ship Taylor out, that'll solve it.
feck me sideways.

This thread is getting pretty repetitive now, it's literally the same story being rehashed over and over.
It's annoying because it's obvious that we can't do anything until we know about Cahill.

Taylor - he's got to go, he's shite.
Elmander - he's got to go he's shite.
Steinsson - he's got to go he's shite.
Petrov - the Messiah who replaces Taylor, he's got to go he's shite
Muamba - he's shite isn't he, maybe he shoud go.
Knight - shite
Oh we're not too bad if we let them all go and get the wages off the books, we've still got Blake, Eaves, Ricketts and Ward - maybe Vaz Te will come back for a spell. The original list had 4 long term injuries in it (some of them fairly perennial) and some bloke that's likely to be in jail. Sounds like a decent gamble.
CL here we come.
Fook me.
And on that note I'm off out.
