Seriously? As said, if we're getting a Blackpool striker on the cheap, it'd have to be DJ Campbell. Yes, he's 30 this November, £1.25m for a hard-working 13-goal striker is surely a better bet than most.CrazyHorse wrote:Coyle's missing a trick here. That said, it's still only June.

I'm not sure I want someone with tattoos and gold teeth up front for us.
Passarella would hate him, if you substitute long hair for the gangsta look, innit

Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
Wanderers and Wigan are locked in a bitter stand-off over keeper Ali Al-Habsi.
With both clubs sticking steadfastly to their guns over the Oman international, Latics chairman Dave Whelan threw the whole deal into doubt yesterday when he accused Wanderers of going back on a £3million asking price, supposedly agreed last summer.
The Whites want £4m for Al-Habsi, who was a resounding success at the DW Stadium in a loan spell last season, scooping the Latics’ player of the year award.
Owen Coyle told The Bolton News on Monday that his club had “not shifted one iota” since entering into talks with their near neighbours at the start of the month.
But Wigan chief Whelan reacted angrily, accusing Wanderers of trying to milk more cash from the deal.
“We’ve made our offer, and we’re sitting on the fence at the moment,” he said in a challenge to his opposite number, Phil Gartside.
“They’re trying to get more money out of us, but we’ve told them straight, we’re not paying any more money.
“We saw our first bid turned down, which we thought we might, and our second offer remains on the table. It’s our fullest and final offer.
“The offer is what we were quoted for last summer – £3million.
“They’re trying to get add-ons factored in, which we’re trying to resist.
“We’ve done what we can now. It’s just a case of ‘wait and see’.”
It is understood Wigan are baulking at a number of add-ons for the 29-year-old, including a fee if the club avoid relegation, which could eventually top up their cash-up-front offer by an extra £1million.
Roberto Martinez has openly admitted that securing Al-Habsi's signature is his number one priority, but Whelan’s comments yesterday, which claim a sale is inevitable because Jussi Jaaskelainen is close to agreeing his own two-year contract extension, have not gone down well at the Reebok.
“They’re just about to sign a contract extension with their other goalkeeper, so they’ll definitely be selling Ali,” said the DW Stadium supremo.
“We want him, and the lad definitely wants to come to Wigan, so we’ll see.
“We’ll leave it for another week or so, but then we’ll have to start to look elsewhere. We can’t wait forever.”

Well Mr Honourable...if we agreed a fee supposedly last summer, why try and shaft us to start with, with a lower fee which you knew would get rejected. Up yours Whelan.Lofthouse Lower wrote:Wanderers and Wigan are locked in a bitter stand-off over keeper Ali Al-Habsi.

Exactly, if he wasn't trying to cheat US out of an agreement, it'd nearly be a fair comment. He's our player, and if we think he's worth £4m, then thats what we'll put him up for, get your money out Whelan and shut up.ohjimmyjimmy wrote:Well Mr Honourable...if we agreed a fee supposedly last summer, why try and shaft us to start with, with a lower fee which you knew would get rejected. Anyway, if they don't buy him, Big Sam is probably after Jussi for his BWFC reunion at Wet Spam.
Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
Big Sam can have Jussi if he wants to pay for him. We'll keep Al Habsi, anyone get the feeling that OC has something up his sleeve for Left wing if we are considering getting rid of Taylor? Or are we going to go into the season with no left sided player?
Anyway 'In OC we trust', I suppose

Unfortunately, I can imagine that the Petrov rumours weren't true also.

I think the Al Habsi bridge is well and truly burned, he's going one way or t'other now its been made clear that Coyle favours Jussi and sees Bogdan as the next in line. Al Habsi clearly won't be chuffed!TKIZ! wrote:Big Sam can have Jussi if he wants to pay for him. Way I see it is Lee to go on the left, and Phillips for the right
Oh and Big Sam confirms Hitzelsperger has left West Ham - worth a punt?
