Re: What are you eating and drinking tonight?
Ahh, I should've explained. I bought it at Christmas but it's been sat on my rack for six months (well, until I put it in the fridge about a week ago).
Pretty much backs up what you say though - they were obviously punting it out to be supped over the festive season and not to be kept in the cubby hole until summer.
I've cut my losses and sacked it off now anyway and opened my first bottle of 2010 Montaria (the Portuguese red that I buy off Naked Wine). Absolutely superb. Benefits massively over the 2009 for being 1%vol less.
Chin chin.

Al Fresco Simplitico tonight. Very hot day and didn't fancy anything cooked. Had two big, soft barmcakes of roast beef from the market, spread with English mustard, Steak tomato, lettuce and topped with Walkers cheese and onion crisps. Add an ice-cold San Miguel and that did real nicely.

Oh, splendid work, Capslock. This is the place on Darwen Rd, isn't it? I didn't know that they have a website, so thanks for that. I fear walking into a wine shop as such as the prospect of being confronted by an expert is just too much to bear. Banging on about "sulphur on the nose and hollyhocks as an aftertaste" is more than I can face!
Cheers.

yesterday went to the Cider and Perry festival at the Palace Hotel Manchester, an impromptu visit yesterday afternoon. I had a hangover by the evening, without breaking much sweat

Having been out in Manchester last night, waking up with a mother of a hangover and sleeping most of the day, I'm now wanting to eat anything and everything we have in. Absolutely starving. Reckon I might start with an omelette...

India Gate's that one that used to be one of those Miller's Kitchen type gaffs, isn't it? Walked past it twice last week and it looked proper busy.CAPSLOCK wrote:General Mannerheim wrote:you enjoy your Ruby's - been to that India Gate in Bradshaw twice in the last week, fookin tremendous! best naan bread's int world. recommend the Lamb Hari-Mirchi.

Turton Heights, William. Top of the hill on the road to Hawkshaw. Of course, Spice Valley is the acid test for any other Indian restaurant.

Last I heard, they'd had a bit of problem with Environmental Health up at India Gate. May want to steer clear for a short while.
