Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Also, another oppurtunty to try to find out one of the mysteries of my life. Does anyone else (no-one does) remember a programme about a young lad who was ill off school (like glandular fever or something big) for aaaages. While off he wrote a computer game, which he sent off to Japan where it was really popular and one day he got a cheque for like £1million or somesuch. Programme is then about how he spends that money, his mum lets him spend the daily interest or something, at one point he buys a chauffered Rolls. Anyone?
Matt's Million? He learnt all kinds of lessons about life and stuff, and in the end started making another game?? I think it was based on a book. Or a book was written about afterwards. I think I read it once, as well as watching it.

No, that was a bit after my time and was for younger kids. This was a drama series aimed at 8-12 year olds i reckon.Annoyed Grunt wrote:Only one that springs to mind is Rosie and Jim.Gooner Girl wrote:there was a kids programme back in the early/mid 90's set on the river - locks, narrow boats and a cafe featured and i can;t remember the name of it, has been bugging me for ages. Loved Billy Bunter of Greyfriars and the BBC mini dramas like Tom Brown's Schooldays with arch bully Flashman and William Tell with the 29 stone Llamberger Gesller.

I recall it, it was based around North Cheshire. Drama for young adults I think. About 15-20 years ago. I can't recall it's name & failed on google last evening.Gooner Girl wrote:No, that was a bit after my time and was for younger kids. Mind you ... "Watching", with Patsy Byrne, Emma Wray, Paul Bown as 'Malcolm' and Lisa Tarbuck was v good.

I don't know why Bobo would remember childrens drama from when you were a child GG - yours isn't even very retro - it was in colour FFS!!
it's entirely possible that Bobo is remembering the BBC series "The Canal Children" from the mid-seventies... that was before you were born!! It was a Brummie series on a canal barge called the Water Rat - set way back in the mid 19th century.

ooooooh, you deserve such a slap. I'll leave 'Pet-Food Boy' to deliver it (is he your Chum ??).Gooner Girl wrote:Perhaps he has kids that watched it? He is quite old after all
No, it wasn't "The Canal Children" programme suggested. Brummie you say ? No, definately north west. They mauled around the north Cheshire canals, lived on a canal boat, moored by a canal-side pub and they were doing a bit of a famous-five type thing with a couple of adults in tow. It showed in the 5.30-6.00pm slot.
