No probs. We'll just blame someone's broken big toe.

Bound to have a few hanging around the place.

I'm hopeful of a surprise or two. I'm not so blindly optimistic as to think we'll escape the opening 6 games undefeated, but a couple of draws, and/or, indeed, a couple of wins, certainly aren't beyond us. I can't see United, Chelsea, City or Arsenal emulating the Invincibles of a few years back; they've got to be beaten sometime, why not by us early on?

You are yin to BWFCi's yang.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

If, as Owen has consistently told us, we are a club in transition, I can only see a relegation battle this season while we continue to build. I'm happy we will stay up but for this season, anything above the bottom 4 is a result and for me, talk of a top 9 spot is almost delusional unless we make significant signings in the next 4 weeks.

I'm slightly concerned at our overall transfer policy and think we need a couple of experienced heads to see us through the next 2 seasons and steady the ship while the kids bed in.

My money's on 15th.

5th Arsenal

With the likelihood of Fabregas going to Barcelona, Nasri to Manchester Utd, and no big signings, this coming season could end up being a real test for Arsenal and their fans. A 5th play finish and no silverware (again), however, will see Arsene Wenger retire from football at the end of the season. And what odds Carlo Ancelotti to replace him?
I'm sorry, i can't take whoever wrote that seriously given they have Liverpool 3rd, Sunderland 6th and your lot as high as 9th! Clearly haven't a clue what they are talking about!
I know! As if you'd get 5th!

The opening game is the key. We need to win at QPR. It will give confidence, get points on the board and mean that if at the least all we do is beat Norwich at home we'll have 6 points from very difficult first 7 fixtures which would be decent. Grab a point or two elsewhere and it'll be a super start.

Lose away at QPR on the opening day though, and things look tough, if we can't pull off any surprise results in that opening period, we could be on 3 points from 7 games and that could spell a difficult season if confidence is hit badly.

We could, of course, be on 0 points after 7 games :hang:

Well indeed, but I was being presumptious that we'd beat Norwich at home. Perhaps that is wrong. But it feels far enough away to be confident and presumptious!

It's a frightening prospect.

Our away form (and that against the bigger boys) is enough to make me think that P7, W1, D0, L6 is a real possibility

I think its the wrong approach to obsess on the QPR and Swansea fixtures. It'd be a bigger boost to get a draw at one of the others than an away win at Loftus Road. And lets be honest, QPR are going to be fired up to f*ck on their return to the top flight.

Indeed but that often works against the newly promoted teams as much as for them. Its going to be difficult, but if we can win there it sets up up. If we lose then we're looking at trying to pull off surprise results with no momentum. We've got to try and look at being at a point a game or thereabouts after the first 7. That means really needing 2 wins. QPR away and Norwich at home look most likely. If we do that it will release pressure and maybe we can nick the odd other result.

The prospect of having 1 or 2 points after 7 games is not a good one, which is why IMO the first game will be key. And we need to sort out or dreadful away form, and sort it out early!
