It shows there are really fine margins at being a success in football. Some players play consistently well year after year, some have a couple of good seasons in a career of medicority, and others, like Andranik, show flashes of brilliance but never quite make it for reasons such as injury or lack of opportunity.

John Walters & Delroy Facey both moved downwards in search of regular football and only 1 came back up, which is rare in itself these days.

I'm sorry, when exactly did he show flashes of anything?

Two goals against Wigan that went through the keeper's legs....can't think of any other 'highlights' from his career with us

That was Andranik, I'm sure. People started adding "Great at throw-ins" to the list of reasons why he was a superstar being cruelly held down by a succession of managers.

Anyway, he clearly wasn't that good, but he didn't do badly given his lack of opportunities. More than Rodrigo anyway.

It was Andranik. To some, it was as influential a throw-in as Rory Delap regularly comes up with.

Pele himself was gushing with praise at such an audacious 6 yard chuck-in to one of your mates.

Didn't he have a good game at Doncaster once? I think you're all doing him a disservice.

Clearly after his perofrmane at Bayern, we'd be in the Champions League now if we'd kept him. And Vaz Te.

Its like Alan Ball and Roger Hunt all over again.

No easy games in the FA Cup with Budweiser.

In cases like this, we should start up a thread, perhaps called "Where Are They Now?" or summat...
