McCann and Gardner both had does at right back. Pretty sure McCann started there and Gardner ended up. I think, to deal with that Ribery fella.

Was back at the Allianz last month on one of them stadium tours, the guy said their manager was told he wasn't needed anymore after that result!
Makes half of our current mobs last few months and semi final debacle even more painful!!!!

Heat of the moment remark? It might just have had something to do with taking Ribery off when he was conducting a masterclass in asehole ripping. Might, I add.Was back at the Allianz last month on one of them stadium tours, the guy said their manager was told he wasn't needed anymore after that result!

Aye I know, I'm only repeating what the lad said....he didn't say fired, and I recall something about a falling out between the bayern hierarchy at the time...just an anecdote anyway.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:He may well have been told that, but Ottmar Hitzfeld stayed in charge till the end of the season, winning the Bundesliga and German Cup and reaching the UEFA Cup semi-final...officer_dibble wrote:Was back at the Allianz last month on one of them stadium tours, the guy said their manager was told he wasn't needed anymore after that result!
According to the official site (I know) the changes were forced and McCann played right-back...

You will find it difficult to explain to your grandkids just how shite Alonso, Braaten, Cid (!) and co were when you talk about that day

Re: Where are they now - Mikel 'Brother of Xabi' Alonso
I was fooking bendered, i dont remember much about that day!
All i can remember is rocking in with 5 mins to kick off, being told the team about 6 times by the bloke next to me, still checking it on my phone cos i didnt believe him, us scoring, some more goals, us equalising, going mental! and the fellas with guns behind me!
Cid is truly the worst signing I think I've seen relative to league status. So yeah he might be better than John Dreyer but we were in division one then not a Uefa Cup side...Alonso was a poor premier league player, nothing truly awful.....Braaten was clearly a lazy c*nt with some ability, but not enough ability to pull off being a lazy c*nt.

Gerald Cid, if I remember rightly, was a far superior left-back than he was a centre-back. Although, considering that he was worse than dogshite at centre back, that's probably not saying much. That slide tackle on Johnson vs Everton was the final nail in his coffin for me. I remember the moment distinctly...officer_dibble wrote:I was fooking bendered, i dont remember much about that day!

Andy Johnson sprints at him with the ball. Cid goes across to meet him. I remember saying aloud "don't slide in, don't slide in, don't slide in...". Cid slid in. Johnson skipped around him with the ball, and one touch later, is at the byline. I remember shouting aloud "oh, for f*cks sake!". The ball is squared across the six yard box, and there is Yakubu, for one of the easiest goals he'll ever score. I remember standing up and shouting at Cid, with all the accompanying gestures and flailing arms "you f*cking muppet (etc)! Rule one in basic defending, you do NOT commit yourself!" or words to that effect. I don't know why that moment, out of all the moments I've spent watching BWFC and all the inherent disasters, has stuck with me. But I still have nightmares about it. And the odd dream where I'm in Cid's position, and by staying on my feet, I'm able to push Johnson out wide...

That Everton game was supposedly the "unveiling" of Sammy Lee's new vision.
And to be fair we did play some nice football for about 5 minutes!
Gerald Cid, Allardyce's parting gift along with Samuel, Michalik and Dzemaili!

Tis naught but the truth. They had us on the ropes and the game almost tied up, then along came our two saviours: Hitzfeld and SKD. I dread to think of the score if he'd left the deadly duo on.boltonboris wrote:I could've licked his nipple when he also took off Podolski.. Andranik surely? Without his throw and Nolan beating some defenders to the ball, SKD wouldn't have had the opportunity to swing a leg at it?TANGODANCER wrote:Tis naught but the truth. Oh,all right then, throw was opportune and Nolan's keepy-uppy flicks over the defenders were a bit tasty, but it would all have been for nothing if it hadn't gone in.
