Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
That's all well and good, but in that case the stardust players have to shine. Who is our most creative player? Lee, by a country mile. The Lee who plays on the opposite wing, and not only creates chances, takes risks, scores goals, and gets us all out of our seats, but also works hard to track back, help out his full back. There are two issues with Petrov. That he sometimes gives the ball away in dangerous areas, that he makes decisions that could create chances but often don't, as opposed to the safe option, that could be forgiven, which seems to be your argument. There is another side to him that is unforgivable, and that is his complete unwillingness to put in any work defensively. Lee isn't particular good at it, though a lot better, but he does make a difference to the oppositon, he makes things hard, he contributes. Petrov just is not interested in the team. The Stoke goal where he lost in and didn't bother trying to get it back sums up his entire attitude. It isn't good enough, and whilst he may be more talented than Taylor, and he may be better going forward, he is nowhere near good enough for that attitude to be incorporated.

I still maintain that if we start the season with Taylor in the team , it will hamper our efforts, particularly at home. If we switch to a different approach away from home, I'm all ears. But it can't be as a winger. He just isn't.

Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
I don't necessarily disagree. I'm not saying Taylor is the answer. Unfortunately other priorities and our finances might mean we have to go into next season with those two again. If that is the case then I think different situations would call for each. If we insist on playing 4-4-2 no matter what then Taylor has to start away from home. At home I can see a case for Petrov over Taylor as long as we have an actual central midfield unlike the back end of last season. Ideally we'd get another left sider who can come in and be first choice. Somebody with penetration but who isn't fecking useless defensively as well.

Well we're fooked then, because I'm convinced we have no money. I'm praying Pratley has the energy in midfield that Holden did.

If we had no money it might have been a good idea for that nice Mr Coyle to have signed some of the 'very good' Bosmans he's been offered. Also if that scenario were true (which it's not according) the he's made a right balls up with Cahill. And he also should have paid Elmander what he wanted.

Sorry, we have no money so he should have offered him an improved contract?
You're a Keynsian, aren't you?
And what would you have him do in the case of Cahill.

But we have absolutely no idea what Mr Coyle is or isn't doing behind the scenes have we, so knees are excused from jerking till we do. Watch this space.

TD I agree we need to see what happens.
If selling Cahill was so crucial to raising money to buy players then Coyle should have done so before he got into the last year of his contract and then not spend the whole summer trying to sell him in public. In any event the no money theory is convenient to some but I don't buy it. We won't have pot loads but every summer every manager we've had has been supported to bring players in by Eddie and this will be no different. Especially with selling Al Habsi and releasing 5 players!

Anyways if you have no money to spend you say so. It stops teams from thinking they can milk you. Nobody has said we can't buy. In fact quite the opposite, Coyle wanted to go on record to say we could buy even without selling Cahill. No reason to say that if it isn't true. No reason whatsoever!

And it is true. We got Pratley on a free. Woo.
One suspects we'll have the Ali money to re-invest

Is jay bothroyd still on the market? Still think he'd be a decent signing especially if funds are low and sturridge isn't coming back

Say apart from the reason of not wanting to seem desperate for the cash?BWFC_Insane wrote:Anyways if you have no money to spend you say so. It stops teams from thinking they can milk you. Anyway, it'll be extra money in the same way the Anelka sum was.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Bothroyd is obviously not great. But I'd rather sign him on a free than go into the season with what we've got. Hopefully it will come to neither. But if we don't get a forward in and a player like him was there on a free questions would be asked!

If we rely on what we have, we are in trouble.
If the addition to what we have is Bothroyd .... we are in trouble.
We do need an addition, but if it is that level we may as well not bother. Before someone says "he got an England cap last year", yes .... but only after some ludicrous press campaign. He did less after that than Ricketts did after he got his.
Have some faith. In fact, fckg lose that faith if he is what turns up.

Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
I'd imagine a good manager making a fair amount of wage, and one who got a striker of Sturridges capacity in, knows full well that in losing Elmander in addition to Sturridge we need a class striker. In fact I'm damn sure of it. Give the man time.

Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
Bothroyd is a good player. Would walk into our time right now. If we end up with Bothroyd Davies and Klasnic then by all means be worried, but we wont. Somebody might think you had an irrational dislike of anything remotely connected to the Welsh Bobo.
