Hopefully you're right about players coming up from the reserves.truewhite15 wrote:Photos of Matt Taylor training in America serve as pretty conclusive proof that we're not about to offload him to the Potteries. Also interesting to see Mr's Obadeyi and Eaves in training with the first team. Given our current striker deficiencies, I think it might be worth keeping a very close eye on those two...
Mrs Obadeyi and Eaves? I've only just got used to Mrs SKD

The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

Penniless obviously. The players I am after, the clubs involved already know. That tells you it isn’t Bosmans, they are established players we’ll have to purchase.
What we have to be wary of is that we don’t pay inflated prices. I have a value for players and am looking to do the best business possible.
There are a couple of players we’re talking about to their respective clubs but nothing has been agreed yet.

Would have had Johnson.

Our squad situation is worrying. But its not like Coyle, Gartside et al, don't know that. As it seems that all our targets are players we'll pay fees for its no wonder that its going to be a slow process as the clubs involved see whether they can get a better price or not elsewhere. We're not a club who can just walk in and blow everyone else out of the water so I guess with trying to sign players for fees its always going to take some time.Lofthouse Lower wrote:Would have had Johnson.

He's a far superior defender to Steinsson.Prufrock wrote:I am still convinced Phil bardsley was picked out of the crowd at Old Trafford during an injury crisis.
some of the other bits you said were correct though

I'd take Bardsley over Steinsson.
I'd take any of our right backs over the last 15 years over Steinsson.

Why not? He's infinitely better than any other fit midfielder we have.plymouth wanderer wrote:fvck no

He's a funny one
Looking at the stats you'd say he offers nothing - no assists, no goals, etc etc
But I agree, I think he would improve our team.

I don't think Ferguson is a bad player, but.....
M Davies
Pratley
Davis
Holden
Muamba
Already 5 players for 2 spots. Ok Davis may not be fit and Holden is not yet fit, but even so given our struggles elsewhere Ferguson can hardly be a priority. He also doesn't fit Coyle's mantra of younger players....

Fergusons passing range and ball retention puts any of our midfielders to shame.. I'd even say he's a better 'footballer' than Holden

Aye but alls I'm saying is we've already signed one midfield player who I would hope Coyle doesn't see as an unknown.Lofthouse Lower wrote:Davis - not fit

I still think we need to strengthen up front and at the back before we worry about midfield again!

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

That would make sense. Get him in for a year, train him up, and now he's doing about all he can in the reserves he's ready for first-team football lower down the ladder. Once we've given him some pre-season games then (correctly) signed more experienced players anyway, you can imagine a fruitful month or three on loan in the third tier - local options include Oldham, Bury, Preston, Rochdale, Huddersfield, even Tranmere (I know, but he's a Scouser so he might not mind).Lofthouse Lower wrote:Eaves is to go on loan
Same sort of thing might do Mark Connolly good if he isn't bundled off to Boro. Both players turn 20 around Christmas, so they need to be proving their potential at a decent level. Eaves is entering the second year of a three-year deal, anyone how long Connolly's got?

I honestly think thats a bollocks argument. Club went down ergo all their players are shite.bobo the clown wrote:Yep, as witnessed by Birmingham's tremendous outcome last year.Lofthouse Lower wrote:Davis - not fit

Ferguson's neither terrible nor brilliant. He's also neither young nor low-paid. And strange as it may seem, central midfield isn't a priority.
Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
I honestly never said Ferguson was rubbish, I did say it was a story by an agent to generate a move and that he didn't fit OC of young, hungry for football and cheap
Pfffft.

Connolly's in his last year. So he has to prove himself for a new contract whether it's on loan or in training.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:That would make sense. You've obvioulsy got long term memory loss then... O'Kane, Ostemobor, McAnespie... Steinsson is Cafu-esq compared to them 3.Lofthouse Lower wrote:I'd take Bardsley over Steinsson.
