Cheers TKIZ. Having watched then in all weathers: snow, fog, hail, rain and sunshine and through all the ups and downs the addiction's well set in. Bolton are for life, not just for Christmas.

Bolton Wanderers really is a club for those with a refined pallate regarding English football. I get a lot of "stick" even here in the States for saying Bolton is my club. Seems like nobody can understand the attraction either. Bolton seems to epitomize "unfashionable." This country (USA) is full of plastics that support the obvious English sides like ManUre, Man City more recently, Chelsea, and Arsenal (Oh and Grimsby Town of course, thousands of those over here!, just kidding). But I think for someone who really wants to experience what makes English football so special then Bolton is a bit of an obvious choice. A very rich history in the game that kind of mirrors an experince for most fans who do not support a top 6 side would envy. Early success, hard years, then a rise back to be an established Prem side that is playing attractive football in a beautiful stadium with one of the top young managers in the world and mostly young, hungry players.

You sound like an American friend of mine that I managed to persuade to become a Bolton fan about two years ago

Did he wax lyrical in American jargon about the Wanderers also?

He still does wax lyrical about them and even knows about all the rivalries. Took him to the Man City/Bolton game at Eastlands at Christmas and he caught the bug big time.

Looks like Cahill is not playing? Running around in flip flops.

Giving them half a chance. Very altruistic of him.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

I don't know if it is possible to express why you love your team. You just do.

I think the Harry Potter factor of some of our fans has something to do with it all: The way they can change a player from a "donkey, stump" and things much worse, into a legend just by him scoring a goal; and then change him right back again if he doesn't. Pure Philosophers stone.

Does anybody really love Wanderers?

Bloody hate 'em, myself.

Although I hate them in a different way to the way I hate the other 91 football league clubs.
