I would say the spending patterns of the last 18 months indicate we have far less money than before. Any money that is available being spent on potentially resaleable assets doesn't automatically gainsay that.

Coyle has always been in favour of younger players. There is a difference in a strategy to buy younger players and there being no money available. Bearing in mind that Wenger is who Coyle models himself on perhaps he is equally as cautious and mean in the transfer market. Whatever the situation we need to cut our cloth accordingly to whatever fooking cut we can afford and get some business done. Otherwise next season we could well be talking about selling owt that's not nailed down and forming FC bloody Bolton!Lord Kangana wrote:I would say the spending patterns of the last 18 months indicate we have far less money than before. I think it's more about finding the 'right' kind of players for BWFC. Players who are talented enough and young enough to get two or three seasons out of them and then selling them on. Maybe even the introduction of more of the reserves, something that we've been crying out for since the development of Nobby.BWFC_Insane wrote:Coyle has always been in favour of younger players. Coyle has had a long time to find the right sort of players that will fit in the budget. As he says he's already turned down a number of quality players including Bosmans because they 'weren't right for us'. Bout time he found some that were right!TKIZ! wrote:I think it's more about finding the 'right' kind of players for BWFC. Or LCY. What I'm a bit disappointed is that Coyle hasn't as yet managed to find some actual youngsters good enou to bulk the squad out from the bigger sides. I expected us to have signed a few unheard ofs who he woud develop and turn into stars. His only attempt so far has been Alonso and I guess longer term Eaves. But I was expecting more like that than trying to spend 5M plus on Jeffren who is hardly a hidden gem. I thout we'd be raiding the bigger clubs youths to offer them a chance of football and bring them on. Bit like Wenger has done himself at Arsenal but on a lesser scale. But so far we only seem to be going for pretty well known younger end of the market.Lord Kangana wrote:Aye.

http://menmedia.co.uk/manchesterevening ... oan-chanceBolton must wait at least another fortnight to find out whether they have a chance of landing Daniel Sturridge on loan again next season.
The Chelsea striker has flown on the club’s Far East tour after partnering Fernando Torres in a 1-1 friendly draw at Portsmouth.
Wanderers would love to sign the former City youngster after his superb loan spell at the Reebok last season.
Bolton boss Owen Coyle is good friends with Chelseacounterpart Andre Villas-Boas and has hinted he may enquire about Sturridge’s availability.
“Daniel is a very, very interesting player with a tremendous future,” said Villas-Boas.
“The individual is highly regarded by myself.
“I have 15 days in Asia to make the best decision and I need those four games to continue to assess.
“When we get back from Asia we have a week running into the Rangers game and I think from then on a decision will have to be taken to be ready for the first game of the season.”

Go on then, what is it in Portuguese?

BWFCi, your rant on being all upset at folk calling you a depressive really isn't helped by your contributions to this thread. Fook me. Lighten up.
As for money, well £5million on Jeffren looks about equal to £5million in for Ali and Ward. JSL.
On the other hand, I'd not be too worried about Eddie and cash. He has leant the club around £90million. He wont be expecting BWFC to ever pay him that back, instead he gets paid a couple of million quid a year and gets that back when he sells the club. Easy.
It's not as easy as waiting till we already have someone for Taylor, who knows what buyers will be interested then.
It's July. If we're still this fooked in the last weekend of August, I'll join in the panic.

Go back two or three years and you would struggle to find a semi positive post in the equivalent thread even when we'd got our spending done early! JSL. As it stands now I'm waiting for something to happen to actually be positive about. Hard to get excited about selling more players until we bring some more in!Prufrock wrote:BWFCi, your rant on being all upset at folk calling you a depressive really isn't helped by your contributions to this thread. He's going to America to have talks, not sign a contract. Thats what it says.
Pound to a penny its a good bit of advertising on his behalf to up his profile, and turn some heads. Bit of brinksmanship. I'd be amazed if he'd sign on the dotted line for <£40k. Which would seem to be our hypothetical wage ceiling.
