Still on the fence myself - though I am being swayed.
Re salary - I think there's a few of these Billy Big Wallets who haven't quite made it at the moneybags clubs that will consider a salary drop to play regularly.

And I'm supposed to be the negative one? Fook me! IF he is flying out then he must have some interest. Mail reports Leicester are our competition for hiLord Kangana wrote:He's going to America to have talks, not sign a contract. Thats what it says.
Pound to a penny its a good bit of advertising on his behalf to up his profile, and turn some heads. Bit of brinksmanship. I'd be amazed if he'd sign on the dotted line for <£40k. Which would seem to be our hypothetical wage ceiling.
So big bucks or prem football! Would be a good signing though I'd not say a priority right now.
Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
Reo-Coker could be thinking that Coyle could do a rejuvenation on his career as well?
Pfffft.

You almost managed it aswell. If it hadn't been for that pesky last sentence...
Anyway, we can always ask Bogdan to play in midfield now Elmanders gone.

If Nigel Mediocre (kidding kids) signs that has to be Sean "who" Davis f*cked off doesn't it? He hasn't even turned up for pre season by the sounds of it?

Really? To be fair I've heard the square root of f-all about him since he signed. He's like one of those "who he?" Allardyce signings, only we always seemed to be able to jettison them fairly quickly, he's just hung around.

He's waiting patiently in the treatment room - soon to be revealed as the ultimate "like a new signing".officer_dibble wrote:If Nigel Mediocre (kidding kids) signs that has to be Sean "who" Davis f*cked off doesn't it? He hasn't even turned up for pre season by the sounds of it?

Interesting one Reo-Coker. Must've seen him play plenty over the years, but never really watched him and thought - I wish Bolton would sign him. Then again, I've never rally watched him and thought - we're running rings round him in MF.
Bit meh really. I can remember thinking "HOW FCUKING MUCH???!!!" when Villa signed him. I think people might be confusing transfer fee paid with ability of player.
Oh and he played for West Ham FFS.
That said, given our complete lack of cover in MF, then he's probably not a bad signing for a free agent, so I wouldn't be too disappointed.

Wasn't Reo Coker captain at West Ham? Be good to have a 'talker' in midfield for a change. Not had one since Nolan left

nah, centre mids is where its at
What I like about Re Coker is experience, plus he must have some "steel" in him, hasn't he captained both West Ham and Villa? We're certainly short on that. See last April!!
Oh and LK, Davis was a Megson signing.

So if NRC does come, that's leave us with Holden, NRC, M Davies, Pratley, Muamba and Gardner and hopefully Vela coming through who can all play CM.
I know we're trying to build a squad, but I'd look at selling Muamba. If Stoke are still interested as they were in January, and let's be honest he is a Tony Pulis wet dream, then we should be able to get a reasonable fee for him. He just doesn't fit into the system Coyle plays. He is brilliant in a 4-5-1 though.
Edit: Just done a bit of rooting, http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Tr ... 5632.html, seems he was linked in March.

Also Savis is expendable as is Matt Taylor. Muamba is young and English so has saleability. Much as I love him he's a liability in our new style. Pratley and Reo-Coker and even Savis are more suited to partner Holden.
Have always loved Reo-Coker for us as much as I did Wheater. Coker covered right back too didn't he? So could probably cover Lee on the right wing. Similar to what Newcastle do with Barton have him drop in and cover. Gardner could cover left wing. Two starter
What could've happened; did.

I'd prefer to send him out on loan tbh as if he can get to his potential he'd be a class player!

Good player Reo-Coker!! Would be a very decent signing!! I wouldn't get rid of Muamba, not before the likes of Sean Davis anyway.
In other news, I can't see this Jeffran deal coming off.

Sell Muamba? No.
Sean Davis is never going to ever be a first team regular here unless something drastic happens. So he's the first one you'd look to jettison, as its pointless having players who never play. See also Cohen and O'Brien.

Not sure whether the Captain is a benefit or no.Rodney Trotter wrote:Wasn't Reo Coker captain at West Ham? Be good to have a 'talker' in midfield for a change. Not had one since Nolan left
Plenty would say Nolan was too vociferous as a Captain. Plenty would say that Davo is too quiet as a Captain. Neither of them (or any other Captain) seem to make any tactical changes as that's all left to the plethora of coaching staff.
That only leaves "That was a bit shit lads - buck up" and "That was great lads - more of the same"
At least in the school playground, you get to pick your mates first.
