Bolton supremo Phil Gartside is ready to fly home early from the US to tie up an ambitious £5million swoop for Barcelona starlet Jeffren Suarez.
Gartside has been cleared to finalise personal terms with the Spain Under-21 attacker and is pulling out of the Wanderers tour to meet the player’s adviser - his father Efren.
Bolton manager Owen Coyle wants to make Suarez his first big capture of the summer and Barca have told the home-grown star he can go.
Venezuela-born Suarez has been in the Barca ranks for years but knew his time was up when the club tried to use him in swap deals this summer - and now he is realising that Bolton have put in the best offer.
Gartside will look to tie up a four-year contract as Bolton make a splash after raising funds by selling keeper Ali Al-Habsi and midfielder Matty Taylor to Wigan and West Ham.
Coyle wants four more captures for the new Premier League campaign after his squad was found wanting in a disappointing end to last season.

Also found this on the under 19's preview 'there are some players who could be available, including Real Madrid's Alvaro Morata . The powerful striker has previously been watched by both Bolton and Wigan.'

You're being slightly disingenuous - the days of 451 certainly were not the type of free flowing attacking football coyle wants/is happening more commonly in todays leagues.Wandering Willy wrote:In terms of league goals:officer_dibble wrote:Nice reccomendation by her from keneckie (sp?) DSB...
im all for formation flexibility...i even accept your Heskey point, tough Engerlund were always miles better with Rooney there... But I just dont see 2 goal Holden, 2(?) goal mark davies and chungy/petrov firing the goals in. Sturridge up top being set up by those guys - now we aretalking. 451 int big sam days we were still relative low scorers but Stelios and Dioufy, Kev Nolan all excellent finishers. think we lack that from midfield at the moment. Maybe Holden cando it - he was too busy covering Muamba last season.
oh and on Muamba - he's a keeper for me on the basis he turned up and didnt hide like the rest of the pricks at wembley.
Stelios 4 goals per season av
Diouf 5 goals per season av
Nolan 4 goals per season av.
That's in a different formation, more conducive to scoring from midfield. Not a huge step up for our current midfielders should we change shape but I'm not sure I'd attach the adjective "excellent".
Stelios was injured for large portions of one of those seasons and hardly played subsequently.
Nolan was hit and miss but scored goals in our better seasons.
Diouf was a good player...at his peak he would thrive in a 4231 IMO, either as one of the 3 or up top on his own. If he wasn't such a bell end that wouldn't be in doubt.

Stelios was a favourite of mine and you're right, personality aside, Diouf was great at times. I'll avoid the red rag and leave the Nolan one as I have expressed my views on him many times.
I was simply cautioning against a rewrite of history and trying to suggest that that the midfield we have at the moment (if fit) are capable of an equal number of goals given a similar set up.

If we get Jeffren, let's hope that he:
A. Goes straight into the starting eleven.
B. Adapts very quickly
C. Isn't shit.

Is he worth the hassle, you reckon? Certainly must be quite something considering what United have had to put up with for him.

Nothing wrong with a trouble maker as long as he's a decent player. See Joey Barton. A bit of a cock but would have him at Bolton any dayLofthouse Lower wrote:'cept he was in court again yesterday
