The cahill thing in my opinion is a shocker and has freebie in 12 months written all over it, if it was someone other than Arsenal interested then id say it might go through, but as you see with there offer for Jagielka, they want stuff on the cheap. Give it the final week of the window and cahill will be sold for <13million which is still good in my opinion but in the current climate is to little.

Bristol City boss Keith Millen is refusing to accept defeat in the club's efforts to keep Nicky Maynard.

The highly-rated striker has just one year left to run on his current contract, posing the Robins with quite a dilemma.

He is generating plenty of interest, making it easy enough for City to offload him should they wish to do so.

They have, however, already knocked three bids back and claim the figures offered so far fall a long way short of their valuation.

Millen is adamant that he will not part with Maynard on the cheap and is clinging to the belief that the 26-year-old could yet be persuaded to pen a new deal at Ashton Gate.

"I understand everyone's anxiety in him not signing a new contract and I'd love it to be sorted out sooner rather than later," he told the Bristol Evening Post.

"In my dreams, Nicky signs a new contract and gets the goals that win us promotion.
