Like a whole new signing if he doesn't leave.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

About eighteen months ago hoboh. You can lower your hands without your eyes bleeding and your heart sinking now.

More guff today along the same lines as the guff from the previous coupla months.

Worth noting the (surely incorrect) assertion therein that "[Coyle] is thought to be demanding at least £20million"Owen'sEleven wrote:More guff today along the same lines as the guff from the previous coupla months.

I'm not anti-brinksmanship and was chuffed to see it work against Dave "Dave Whelan" Whelan but this is different and I think/hope that PG and OC would be happy to talk with anybody tabling say £13m as a start point, perhaps with add-ons for further development (typically 10 England caps or starts, captaincy, major trophies won by club during his time there)

It's probably wide of the mark, but the article asserts that Coyle "is thought to be demanding at least £20 million".
Done.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
I have on good authority that no one has made any enquiries about Cahill whatsoever. As of half time yesterday anyway

Not bothered? He's been whoring him round for 12months. I'd say he was pretty panicky

i would say he has been trying to put people off for 12 months. if he was panicky why the hell has he been talking about figures upwards of 10m??? Maybe he just thinks other manager are thick?Lofthouse Lower wrote:Not bothered? He's been whoring him round for 12months. I'd say he was pretty panicky

Bolton dangle new contract to keep in-demand star
Published 23:00 28/07/11 By Alan Nixon - EXCLUSIVE
Bolton are ready to offer star centre-half Gary Cahill a new contract - to avoid the England international quitting for nothing next summer.
Chairman Phil Gartside is keen to tie down Cahill on fresh terms, pushing up his wages and extending his stay for a further year at least.
Cahill was expected to move to one of the top clubs in this summer's transfer window, but no club has come close to meeting Bolton's valuation - and they will not be letting him go for less over the next month.
So, Gartside and manager Owen Coyle want Cahill to clear his head and sign a new deal, leaving him free to focus on Bolton's bid for a top-half finish and on booking his place in England's Euro 2012 squad.
Cahill has had a sobering summer.
Manchester City scrapped a move for him - mainly because Kolo Toure's drug ban turned out less severe than they feared - while Arsenal are looking at fellow defenders Phil Jagielka and Chris Samba as well as the Bolton man, as they lack the funds to buy Cahill outright and don't have any players who appeal to Coyle as potential part-exchange material.
With Tottenham also reduced to player-swap talk because of the size of their budget, Cahill looks sure to be stuck at Bolton for the last year of his current contract.
He could wait until next summer and leave for nothing, but Bolton want him to sign a new deal, take the pay-rise and go full-out to have a big campaign for club and country.
Coyle has contingency plans that will swing into operation if Cahill does go, but is operating under the belief the classy defender will be in his squad for the coming campaign.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Either a bluff by Coyle to force a bid or I feel he goes in January. This contract just decides whether it'll be for 4 mil or sumat like 14.

That'd be some coup if we could get him to re-sign. It's more likely we're trying to push clubs into action.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
I am struggling to see how a "club wants to extend contract for good player in case he goes for free" article is worthy of any column inches.
