Can't say i'm that arsed about Jeffren tbh. Eagles, ok if he can prove to be better than Taylor and i suppose he has the talent to do so, then i'm ok with that. Mears as cover, at least he could come in and 'do a job' . N'gog, havent seen much of him to be fair but he would seem about our level of player.CAPSLOCK wrote:From Jeffren and Sturridge to Ngog, Mears and Eagles...fcuk me
And worst of all, I'm not surprised
I dunno - with Eagles, N'gog, Reo Coker coming in, plus another striker at some point, i still reckon we have a decent squad.

according to sportsvibe, L'pool want £6mill for Ngog...

Liverpool Tell Bolton £6m Enough to Land French Striker
Bolton are ready to make a move for Liverpool striker David Ngog after Johan Elmander decided to leave the club at the end of his contract and join Turkish giants Galatasaray.
The French striker was close to joining Sunderland earlier this summer when Liverpool tried to use the forward as a makeweight in the deal for midfielder Jordan Henderson.
The 22-year-old did not want to be any part of that deal and subsequently stayed with the Reds and has been impressing during pre-season. While Ngog scored when handed the chance to impress on the US tour, it appears he could still leave Anfield this season.
Bolton manager Owen Coyle appears to ready to do his business late in the window and is hopeful that he can convince Ngog to choose the Reebok Stadium where he could be joined by Barcelona winger Jeffren Suarez.
Coyle hopes that a £4million bid will tempt Liverpool to part with Ngog while a fee of £5m has been agreed with Champions League winners Barcelona and personal terms are currently being discussed.
Liverpool currently value Ngog at £6m and it is believed that manager Kenny Dalglish would rather hold out for a higher fee as he believes the striker has plenty of potential.
Ngog may struggle for chances in the Liverpool first team after the January arrival of Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez, while Dirk Kuyt is more likely to be used as a striker after a number of midfielders arrived over the summer.
Bolton have already lost winger Matthew Taylor to West Ham and Coyle is desperate to bring reinforcements to the squad before the start of the new campaign.
He is hoping to convince free agent Nigel Reo-Coker to choose Bolton while Burnley duo Chris Eagles and Tyrone Mears are also on his hitlist according to reports in the People.

Jeffren, meh, if he doesn't want to play for the club then I don't want him, and Coyle's attitude to that is bob on.
Reo-Coker, is a good player but I've been slightly befuddled (
) by that transfer since the start. We've got plenty of bodies in that area of the pitch and Reo-Coker is sure to be demanding high wages seeing as he was on 40K+ at Villa.
Sturridge, we're exactly where we were yesterday with that transfer. Why would the BN be any closer to the pulse on Modric to Chelsea than every other paper in the world. There is no way that deal is going through. Levy said Modric isn't going...end of as far as I'm concerned, Levy is the type of chairman who sticks to his guns. Plus, Chelsea are closing in on a deal for Pastore, no way they'd sign both.

After seeing Pratley recently I think a central midfielder is the least of our worries. I wouldn't say no if NRC is going but think Coyle is right in being strict over the wages, against it's not our biggest priority.
Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
the Liverpool Vital football page says this:
you can't really complain if it's £3mill - certainly less of a gamble than Elmo was...Having previously made a move to Ngog, but being unwilling to pay £6m for the striker, it's believed that Bolton will now sign him for around £3m?

We should try and chuck Cahill to Liverpool 10-15M + N'Gog.
Although didn't N'Gog's move to Sunderland break down because of wage demands? Can't see us being any more facilitating.

Maybe he's being a bit more accommodating, or we're becoming desperate and chucking more money some lucky striker's way?

Caps, you and I usually agree, but that is nonsense there.CAPSLOCK wrote:From Jeffren and Sturridge to Ngog, Mears and Eagles...fcuk me

As I'm positive you will have said, Jeffren is at best an unknown quantity.
As it stands NGog will walk into the team as he'll be the only forward we'll have who can surpass snails' pace.
If Steinsson picked up an injury right now who would play at QPR? Who have we got as it stands.
Same with LCY or Petrov? We literally have nobody to cover those positions.
Eagles is a step up from nothing. And on his day a good player.
Mears is a step up from Wheater at right back and I think sometimes he may be more effective than Steinsson as he is quick and gets forwards far better.
Coyle wants a team playing a high tempo, high energy, high pace game, at the very least he is going for the sort of players who might have a chance of doing that, which I feel he did the very opposite of last season in Petrov and Klasnic. Fine for a certain way of playing but not the high tempo 4-4-2 he wants to play.
Mears, Eagles, NGog and NRC would all fit into that (although NRC according to the twitter folks in my office has fallen through). Its a big if still, but if we sign those 4 we'll be significantly better than we are now. Whether we'll be better than last season only time will tell.
But I've more faith in those players having a chance of doing what Coyle is going to demand than an ageing Klasnic, Davies and Blake with Petrov on the wing!

Dunno, but we could sign the goddamn tea lady from Barca and if she had a Spanish sounding name and nobody had seen her pour so much as a cup of earl grey, she'd still be the best tea lady ever and she'd still have folks bouncing up and down demanding we sign her tomorrow!Lofthouse Lower wrote:Is there anyone left that we can try, and fail, to buy from Barcelona?
