I'm sure Coyle has been trying to sign a striker, he's not HWSNBN, he knows it's an area that we need players especially with Tom Eaves out injured for six weeks

I'll bet all the tea in China, India, Ceylon and where ever else they make tea that Mears is on less than JLo. And that Eagles will be on less than Taylor.

In short, I believe we will try and get a loan forward in now, rather than a signing, because Reo Coker's wages will have predominantly taken up the Elmander slack. Without the whopping great fee.
Only trouble with that theory is that we already have a confirmed 5m bid in for Jeffren and by several sources a 4m bid in for NGog. On top of the 3m confirmed bid we have for the Burnley pair. Two days ago you were saying we didn't have a pot to piss in and wouldnt sign one more player other than loans.

I think it highly unlikely we would be after signing Jeffren AND N'Gog.

Out:

Al-Habsi, Ward, Taylor - £7.5millionish

In:

Jeffren and Burnley-£8millionish or N'Gog and Burnley= £7millionish.

Seems a bit sell before you can buy to me.

Especially given Jeffren and £5million only seemed to happen after Ali and Ward had gone, and Burnley pair after Taylor had gone.

Maybe they'll do a cut-price deal on Cahill to have more funds before blast-off time

I'd be gutted if we didn't get a decent-ish price for him, leaving Coyle with a good amount to spend on a striker

It does.

With this expected plethora of midfielders are we perhaps overlooking the possibility of another exit?

I had thought of that. Trouble is who? It would surely have to be Muamba, which would be a shame, because I don't think we would get much more than what we paid for him, at best, nor do I think Nireoker is THAT much better than him. And that all seemed to go quiet. I can't see us selling anyone else other than Cahill TBH.

Muamba was linked with Stoke earlier in the season...

I think it's the new plan, mid-field full backs, mid-field Centre Backs, Mid-field midfielders and mid-field striker/goalscorers. It's the future.

Well according to Nixon, Coyle would and could have taken both Jeffren and NGog. We will probably never know. As a club we've usually had to sell in order to sign. Just the way it is for us. Even so hardly the we aren't signing anyone cos eddies pulled out and we've not got a pot to piss in stuff that's been moored!

I think Muamba is probably the favourite if one were to go.

I'd be sad to see that too, but I'm not sure he's getting any better like I hoped he would.

We might get what we paid for him.

If Muamba goes for roughly the same money he came for, then we're £5m up, because no fee changed hands for either Pratley, or if he signs, NRC. Thats the sense it would make.

Was thinking about this earlier. With the kind of centre-mids Coyle is bringing in the Moo stands out like a sore thumb in the 442. If Reo Coker comes in we could probably do with Muamba's wages. Like with Taylor he's from a previous regime and/or doesn't fit into the system.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

I agree. Though I'd prefer to persevere with him for longer. I think he could make a cracking player given the right circumstances.

Think I'd rather we made sure that Holden comes back ok before we think about selling Muamba. And actually signing NRC, Eagles etc.... Would be nice to be able to fill the bench as well!
