Happy Days

Post by Bijou Bob » Wed Jul 27, 2011 7:09 pm

Repling to the VT thread got me thinking..............

Your happiest moments as a Wanderer? Let's be frank, NRC might not be a bad signing, but its not exactly awe inspiring. So, to while away the time until page 483 of the TKIZ thread, let's share the love and a little gentle reminiscing.

That VT goal in Guimaraes and the second in this match are certainly in my top 5

Beyond a shadow of a doubt, final whistle blowing, Bolton 2 United 0 and the F.A Cup was ours.
Beaten only by seeing it raised by Lofty on Bolton town hall steps.

I remember it well !!!! Back in the Big time !!!
Next game against Fulham at Burnden brought us back to earth, with a boring 0 0.

There's been plenty and we've mentioned all of em at one time or another on here but I dont think I will ever equal the buzz of when this happened

The most emotionally draining match I've ever seen us play. Even my dad, a normally fairly reserved fella, went f*cking nuts when that went in.

Its close. Very. And Burnden was wild that night. As it was for Wolves in the semi, and Arsenal in the cup.

But Daffy's equaliser still makes the hairs stand up like no other for me.

The Rioch seasons were something else, weren't they?

i've had a relatively short life as a trotter but even so the quarter final at birmingham last year will take some beating.

Definitely. Especially when they got the penalty in the first half. Couldn't believe what was happening. Thank God for Keith Branagan. Going 4-2 only to concede again a minute later just added to the rollercoster of it all!

For me, this is probably my favourite moment -

Back then, the thought of beating Man Utd at OT was something that I thought would never happen. I think I celebrated that particular Ricketts goal more than his goal at Cardiff a few months previous.

Second West Brom game and t'final were both similar to my young brain. Two late goals in each. Was it Ricketts, Gardner in't semi and Gardner, Ricketts in't final, or the other far around. Either way, for my young self, the second goal against Preston is going to take some beating. Even Frandsen Jay-Jay double whammy didn't beat that.

Although what followed was horrific, this day was pretty amazing. Good video too.
