How long has he got left? Surely Bogdan will be ready in a couple of years anyway?

And I'm not having that his contract runs out in a month.

Bad business from BWFC.
The whole line about waiting so long to sell Al Habsi was to get this sorted out first.
JJ (and his agent) must be laughing at BWFC's idea of; "let's sell off his main competition, let him know he's untouchable, THEN offer him new terms'
...way to strengthen your hand! I'd ask for a big wage hike too!

Obviously. It's a typo. His contract runs out at the END of the season.

We should have fckg sold him & kept Ali. Bllx decision & Jussi - yet-a-fckg-gain - is fckg us about.
Must be the 3rd time he's done this.

Re: Jussi turns down new contract
So no biggie then.
I can't see a man with a family thats settled in the area after 14 years at the club suddenly deciding he wants to go. He'll be 37 when it expires, if he has a good season, and we don't get relegated, we'll offer him a 2 year extension then. I'd reckon, anyway. Its a bollox, pointless, DailyMailesque story. I'll bet Phil Gartside is mates with Prince Phillip aswell.

Re: Jussi turns down new contract
Selling Al Habsi still seems odd to me. Potentially next season we are either starting with Bogdan and bringing in a new backup, or worse still, bringing in a new first choice and keeping Bogdan as backup - ending up in the same Al Habsi/Jussi territory as before.
Honestly though, how can the board not have learnt their lesson with Jussi, the man (or his agent) f*ck us about on a regular basis.

Re: Jussi turns down new contract
We sold Habsi because we were offered money. I know its fashionable to think we've got oodles, but its clear we haven't.

Re: Jussi turns down new contract
This is kinda what happens when you allow a player to think he's undroppable.

All I know is that everything was rosy until I turned the interweb on. If I turn it off now it shouldn't get any worse

Re: Jussi turns down new contract
He's not going anywhere.
And also, it wouldn't be the first time we've low-balled someone on a contract either. It's negotiation. We're not obliged to offer him a blank cheque, and he isn't obliged to sign whatever we put infront of him.

Re: Jussi turns down new contract
More ploys from Jussi to keep on good wages. Can't blame him. Not sure he'll leave but we've seen it all before. Not something we should judge him on really just a sign of the times.

Re: Jussi turns down new contract
I'll ask this because I have no idea of the answer: Who exactly sets out these terms? Is it the managers criteria, manager and chairman, or accounts department? See, if Jussi gets offered more than a season, then surely Bogdan isn't going to be delighted. Suddenly, I can see the same thing happening with KD and discontent in the squad is the last thing we need right now.
