Not proof, but interesting.
He also quotes Morrissey quite often too, which shows that even the most stupid bastard can have the odd moment of sanity.

You are that sure that Pratley is good enough? Realistically, known quantity wise we have: Muamba, Reo-Coker and *maybe* Mark Davies in the middle.

Pratley has looked good so far in pre-season, but Davies and Klasnic are scoring for fun too - reckon that'll have any baring on the actual league?

Ultimately though, we won't get Barton because we have a limited supply of money and we need a striker utterly desperately.
All I know is Coyle was after him as soon as he arrived here, so I imagine he's pretty sure. And what I've seen I have liked.

I do think there is a massive bias against players from the Championship on this board. But with Pratley we'll see how he does, IMO he has all the right attributes to do really well. He just needs to put it together!

Meh, maybe a premature use of the word obvious, but how many starts are in those stats? Sure there wont be too many... I'd also hazard a guess his stats aren't too disimilar to Sturridges before he arrived...

Probably irrelevant really as its just my view on who I'd prefer than DJ Campbell, as originally pressed, but I've got a feeling that he'll be the loan signing striker we'll end up with... fits Coyles modus operandi, and who else is out there?

Similarly, are you sure that Barton would stay out of trouble long enough to help us, rather than hinder us?

They're both gambles.

Spector has ghosted into Birmingham.

Shame, he would have filled a couple of positions and at a fairly average wage I'd have thunk

To a shitter level than Gavin McCann, Nicky Hunt and Tamir Cohen in the positions he could have covered, though.

Takes a 'special' talent to be considered the joke player at West Ham with some of the candidates they had in that team!

Perhaps with good reason, I'd completely forgotten about Alexander Hleb. Back at Barcelona, kicking his heels. Far from ideal but almost certainly available for loan should we so choose. At some point beggars might not be choosers.

Most Brum fans would have preferred a beggar... probably a blind one at that!

Urgh no, never have I seen such a pointless footballer.

I just don't know what he 'does'. Is he a creator? Didn't see him doing much creating......

Would be expensive and a luxury........

at arsenal hleb was awesome wanna of the few players i actually liked

where talking about barton but this guy (with a coyle arm around the shoulder) would be even better his ablity to find space and his first touch was sublime we would be a good suite for him especially as his career has gone stale of late hes defintley a coyle type of player

at birmingham he'd struggle to settle cus of the way they play but as has already been said he's luxury we can't afford and in a positon we don't need unless we were planning on playing 451 with him playing in the hole(OH sexy)

He seems like a winger who isn't particularly quick with his feet, doesn't beat his man and doesn't cross..

A good footballer when he's got 3 or 4 players in close proximity to work angles with and exploit fullbacks, but that's not really our game.. We play forward more than we play side to side, to side to side, to side to side

That's why he was perfect at Arsenal.. Because he could make sure his team kept a hold of the round thing, but never really probed too much..

Imagine he is! But Paul Wheatcroft was the best 5-a-side player at the 'Bok bar none.....

Barton has officially stated he's willing to talk to ANY club, no matter what league they are in.
Good, that should give him plenty to go at, that isn't us.

Great footballer but complete tw@t. Not just all the altercations he has on the pitch, but a complete disruption in the dressing room. He hasn't got rid of that ability to call the manager shit, tweet away about what's happening inside the Club or get suspended for something stupid on or off the pitch.

I don't think what he'd bring on the pitch would be greater than the problems he'd cause off it, by being here.

With him in the team, being a class and a half above anything we have, Newcastle managed to finish no points in front of us in the league last season (but 3 goals better off on GD). I'll take a chance on not gambling on that level of improvement thanks.
Newcastle were 7th at the point they sold their best striker and replaced him with Shefki Kuqi.

Though, if we're following through with this (bollocks) reasoning, what level of improvement are we getting from an 8th placed Championship club?

What's bollocks about not knowing if Pratley will improve our side to the same extent as Barton?

Point is, you have no more clue than anyone else how Barton might fit into the squad. History would tend to suggest that Pratley will fit in better.

Barton may add footballing ability and wreck any squad "harmony" we have. Do you not think that's at all a possibility?

Lots of people are talking like he's fecking Messi. Reality is this time last season, he was playing for a newly promoted Championship side too.

Which bit? N'gog or Macheda?
Well, neither really. You've dismissed Campbell as having had a half a decent season (albeit in a side that went down) and then piped up with these two that haven't even managed that despite being surrounded by hypercosmic megabeings from a distant footballing galaxy. :conf:
