I got a parking ticket in Bury town centre - bought my ticket but in shutting the door it seems that the breeze turned it over so the bastards ticketed me. Appealing against it though, not sure I can be held responsible for the wind

I got caught twice in two weeks once. Once for doing 45 on a two lane flyover and one for going through a red light (it was amber for me but I didn't argue the point). Both incidents were within a couple of miles of each other in East London.

A few weeks later I was telling a friend of a friend of mine (who was a traffic cop) and he asked me what colour car I drove. ''Blue'' I said ''Why?''

''They were probably playing snooker. Two patrol cars will have a bet on who can get the 'highest break' on a shift. They book a red car, then go for a colour. As you're worth 5 points for a break you're quite sought after. Change your car to silver/grey and you won't get any more hassle''

I did. I haven't. :?

Racist.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

Right, today I'm really angry.
Shit coffee.
I'm in a brew club with a couple of my fellow engineer types and we more or less take it in turns to bring in milk and coffee. Today we were presented with Co-op own brand coffee. It's like Satan's jiz in a jar.
Is picking up a Nescafé Original so fckin difficult? And is the 8p saving on a jar really going to break the bank?

I can't work in these conditions.

Cheap coffee is, without doubt, one of life's greatest false economies. See also - shit bread that sticks to the roof of your mouth and beans other than Heinz.

A brew club?

That sounds exactly like the sort of thing a coffee drinker would do....

There's one chap who brings in tea for himself. A tea-bagger if you like.
But he's very softly spoken and keeps his glasses on a chain round his neck.

Based on that description then I'd say I'm with the tea drinker.

Can't be doing with coffee.

These glasses. Is it a platinum chain by any chance?

Good. A man of taste.

I'd imagine all the coffee drinkers jangle and clink with their gold chain bling and sovereign rings...

Really?

And how often do you drive round East London?

CIG, I take it your name is a reference to the former Cream guitarist and not the E5 area of London?

Mmm, I'll grant you that I do not know East London at all and have never driven there, but I was a traffic cop for 23 years of my 30+ year Police career. I really wouldn't put anything past Met Bobbies but this is one of those stories that does the rounds every so often.

And yes, 'Clapton is god' refers to graffiti painted around London in the mid 60's after Clapton left the Yardbirds.
