Aye, to think we used to moan about Helgusson, Rasiak and Bratten.

He's not worse than Rasiak.

I've actually seen him score.

Jerome isn't awful. He just isn't worth anything like what Birmingham seem to want.

He was the best player on the pitch for Birmingham when we beat em in the Cup game, made Wheater look a fool for 90mins and he's clearly got abit of presence about him.

At like 2-3m as depth up front he'd be a pretty decent signing. At 4-5m as a guarenteed starter, I'd be thinking about planning trips down to Milwall and Doncaster for next year.

But i would like to think we're not looking for in-depth so much as a striker to actually play most games & score, instead of starting Davies & Klasnic.

I don't recall anyone moaning about Borgetti. I thought the general consensus was that he pehaps should have been played more?

Why oh WHY are we not looking a Shane Long, he has potential has a good goalscoring record in the Championship must be worth a punt. Nobody seems interested so would get him for a decent price! Yes it would be a risk but no more than signing Jerome or Ngog!!!!

They want about 7 million for Shane Long.
They're dirty, they're filthy, they're never gonna last.

It's a Jim-off!

Both right, I think. Thing is we can't necessarily sign The Main Striker first then Back-Ups, depends which order they become available in. A bit like you can't really decided when to sell players who aren't transfer listed - if a bid comes in at a price you like you can't say "Sorry Sam come back in a month" and be sure that he will.

Jim-Off :)

True - though my main concern is that Jimbo thinks we'd be signing Jerome as our back-up, which i would be pleased with as i'd be expecting another, better signing to come . However I fear he'd be more our 'main striker' signing, if we spent over 2m on him.

They want about 7 million for Shane Long.
They wanted £7m when they thought there would be a stampede, no interest nearing the end of the window a team needing to sell. This must add up to be able to get him for £4-5m which I think would be in our budget if OC wanted him and thought the price was right

It'll be Jerome (or equivalent) + loanee if I had to place a bet.
