Evening Lads from a Barnsley fan...

Post by cheftyke » Thu Aug 04, 2011 8:48 pm

Vaz Te.....have we dropped a b*llock?!

Keith Hill seems to have a reputation at Rochdale for finding "rough diamonds". I recall this guy being tipped for good things but never making the grade. Should we be hopeful are is he just plain turd?

good luck for the new season btw, our clubs have certainly gone in different directions since our promotion in 96/97 :)

He's f*cking brilliant with the ball. I've seen him rip a couple of teams apart. Literally a couple. And thats the problem. Its when he can be arsed. And when he's not injured. And that happens very rarely.

Having said all that, I think its his year this year. So maybe.

I liked him, it just never really came together. He had a very good run of form in the side.... and then the season ended. He had a very good pre-season under Sammy Lee.... and he got injured 45 minutes into the first game.

He has got talent, but I think he needs an "arm around the shoulder" style manager. Publically slagging him off for making a mistake in a pre-season friendly isn't going to get anything out of him IMO.

We never knew what we had - he always had potential... Season after season he was a player with potential...

Real skill, pace, shot, goals etc...

Then total anonymity...

We kept feeling he had to really come good and show consistently what he clearly had sporadically - but he never did...

Good luck to him... And to you guys... Christ, we've had some tussles with you lot in the past...

He had pace and some skill, he just couldnt put them together and his feet kept giving way and he ended up on the deck,
good luck for the season

If you go in with the mindset of 'be hopeful with the large chance he could be a complete turd' then you'll not go far wrong.

He's good technically, seemed to have an eye for goal, fairly quick (pre-injuries, mind) and when he can be arsed he looked a decent player capable of playing in the Premier League. Unfortunetly he was injury prone, inconsistant and I've seen few lazier players. He makes Martin Petrov look like a workhorse. If that ball isn't within 2 yards of him, no way is he running after it.

I'll always remember him for sending 5,000 Wanderers fans mental in Portugal on our European tour. Brilliant.

No he isn't at the right level,
No he wasn't, unless you have personal experience of your statement !!!

But VT never lived up to his potential due, as has been stated, to injuries and lack of commitment,he was according to Big Sam, the best header of a ball at the club. I hope he finally comes good. ( But I'm not holding my breath!!)
I feel reborn !!!! No more confussion

Redfearn is a massive wanker - speaking from personal experience.

Vaz Te's header against City was brilliant (was that against Schmeichel?) but for the most part he was extreme pantalons.

Down to ten men against the Dingles, thats Blackburn for the benefit of our Barnsley friend, the last chance of the match he does a Pele-esq dummy to round the keeper, open goal at his mercy and he falls flat on his arse. Thats Vaz Te for you, coulda, woulda, shoulda, Didna.

Don't you mean against Boro? Sure he didn't score against Citeh... my memory may be failing but weren't his goals against Charlton, Boro and Brum when he actually got a run in the team playing up top… His header against Boro was a stonking goal… Sure it lead to claims from BSA that he was the best header of a ball in the club.

That run of 4 or 5 games at the end of the 2005-6 (I think) season he actually looked like he could have been the real deal. However, never got a chance after that under BSA with the arrival of Anelka.

Could have been, I seem to remember him scoring that absolutely boss header but was sure it was City - a quick check of http://media.theboltonnews.co.uk/bolton ... ers-stats/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; suggests otherwise

Have they covered the away end at Barnsley yet? I remember going in the Warhurst-era when it rained steadily for the whole of the second half until the final whistle when the sun came out.

Isn't Vaz Te supposed to be the new Ronaldo?

First time at Oakwell in '93 I think. The away end was decrepit, to such an extent that the terrace had been consumed by the mud underneath it. It was completely collapsing. As I recall, we got a 1-1 with Russel Holt in goal and playing 5-3-2. I think.

The following season, they put us in the main stand as it was clearly unsafe. This time we tried to play football. And lost 3-0. I think.
