Steve Bruce is also after SWP...
Steve Bruce is also after SWP...
The Bolton manager Owen Coyle has made the Man City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips a top target after Lee Chung-Yong broke his leg last week, but he is trying to get him on the cheap after SWP admitted that Bolton would be his favoured destination.
But today it has been revealed that the Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is trying to hijack the deal and get the ex-Chelsea star to move to the Stadium of Light instead. Wright-Phillip’s agent agent Wayne Lindsay said yesterday: “There has been an enquiry from Sunderland about Shaun.
“There is no secret that Manchester City are prepared to let him go if an offer came in and it was the right offer so I would guess it is now up to Sunderland whether to follow up that initial interest.”
But Owen Coyle has also registered his interest when he said: “I have too much respect for Roberto Mancini and his staff to talk about their player. But Shaun is a hugely talented player.”
Mancini will be very relieved to get another star off Man City’s astronomical wage bill, but can Sunderland or Bolton match the wages that Wright-Phillips enjoys at the Eastlands…

Manchester City could allow Carlos Tevez to leave as part of a swap with Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto'o, who has reportedly had a row with the Italian club's new coach, Gian Piero Gasperini.

Obviously we'll be further along the negotitation road than Sunderland at the moment, but Sunderland wouldn't be a s 'scrimpy' you wouldnt imagine, so would tie it up quickly if they follow their interest up and offer SWP more wages. If its a case of 5k a week difference, he might be tempted to stay north west - itf its 20k a week, forget about it, he's going there.

"It is understood Wanderers are also in advanced talks with an as yet un-named striker, with Coyle confirming he hoped to add “two or three” new names to his squad before the end of the month."

Everton, Villa and Fulham have inquired about taking Real Madrid right winger Pedro Leon on loan, worth a punt?

That would be class, can't see it happening though.Lofthouse Lower wrote:Kyle Walker on a six month loan is the latest one I'm hearing
We're not actually linked with Pedro Leon but Madrid paid €10M for him after getting 8 goals in 38 games for Getafe.
However he flopped at Madrid but I reckon he'd be a great loan signing for us.

He's back on loan at Getafe.
Walker would be great but very much Steinsson like - great going forward but poor defensively.

He's not that bad defensivley, was quality for Villa last year. A class ahead than any of our other full-backs.
Can't see us getting him though. I'd be surprised were he not in the Tottenham team. He's better than Hutton. He'll at the very least be on the bench.

I'd not rule Ngog out, seems he's OCs preferred choice over Jerome and if we're only a million apart in valuations then as time goes on we can go backwards & forwards between us with ways to compromise.

Doubt we could afford him without selling Cahill first. They want like 8-10m up front for Long.
Although I heard a similar farfetched-sounding rumour abit ago about Steven Fletcher.

Pair of shitehawks, in any case.

Celtic were sniffing around him a couple of months back...
back then Sir John Madejski said...
"Shane is world class. What is the value I would place on him? £20m."

(he's not expecting to get that - but he's not gonna piss him away for nowt...)
