Some nice person was going on about Matt Derbyshire before. Are we really that desperate?

Would love us to try and get Daniel Pacheco from Liverpool on loan, could become a quality player!

Well after we've suffered two broken legs in the last few pre season games im sure Owen told the lads not to put in 100% into the game and get yourselves hurt!Relentless09 wrote:Last night we played probably the best team we have had all pre-season and we were awful
I'm sure for pre season Owen and the team would rather lose then to lose a player!

Chelsea have agreed terms with Lukaku, wonder if Sturridge will be available now.

Proved himself decent at Rovers. Didn't see any of his time at Olympiakos but his goal record suggests he did well when he played there too. Didn't do much for Brum but then he was very rarely used- when he did play in the cup, he scored regular goals for them too.
We've currently got Robbie Blake as our third choice striker. Matt Derbyshire on a free? Sounds good to me. Good player in the box. I'd accept the arguement that he's maybe not what we need because we have Klasnic who can fulfill that role- but on a free I wouldn't accept that he's bad value and/or that we're a club miles beyond him.

41, bish. In 98 appearances for Anderlecht. As well as four at internationnal level
as you were.

Jerome is better than Derbyshire, even if the former cost us £4mil. If we're rolling out the "He must be a better bet than Robbie Blake", then a lot of strikers would improve us. John Carew would improve us, and I wouldn't want him either.

I suppose they could always send Lukaku to us to hone his talents

Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
Of course what we need is someone to come into the first team and score goals, I'm not convinced that Derbyshire on a free or Jerome at 4M are the answer to our problems although if the choice was to have Derbyshire on a free as backup or Jerome for 4M as backup then given our financial situation the only answer to me seems to be Derbyshire.
Hopefully Coyle has something up his sleeve. I'm convinced he's still holding out for another big loan signing. Hopefully the Lukaku deal gives abit of movement with Sturridge, although AVB would be stupid to let him go. Maybe we could convince him it'd be better for Sturridge to get 6 months of first-team football and go back to Chelsea for the run-in on form and ready to step in.

If/When
we take sturridge on loan i hope its for the full season, especially with him being suspended for the first three matches n all.

I'm getting a bit worried now, also quick question what happened to Rusike? Thought he had come to us on trial but then nowt.
Manchester Evening News on Friday said that Coyle is still for 3 players. Don't know who though

What disappoints me a bit is that having release Elmander and Sturridge and knowing we'd need a striker for all the summer, the most imaginative pair Coyle can come up with, and as yet still not sign, is NGog and Cameron Jerome. Hardly bloody inventive. I was expecting him to pick up a cheapie from Scotland or Europe and perhaps one or two from the lower leagues. His plans seem to be, buy an expensive Spanish kid, failing that get some he's managed before, then go for overpriced shite forwards and offer less than their clubs want.
I'm sure we will be ok cos Coyle is good at getting the best out of players, but so far very unimpressed with his buying strategy. And before someone starts banging about no money, thats even more reason to get players to develop and shop a bit more inventively. Not chase exlpensive underwhelming options like Jerome and take all bloody summer doing it!

I really can't stand that short arse little muppet and that idiotic excuse for a dad he has, he seems to be content sitting on the bench collecting the dollar, which I find to be such a waste of talent in favour of capitalist gain. I'd rather we spend the quoted 4 million on a decent striker (not Jerome he is seriously shit) or a larger cash incentive towards another Sturridge loan deal and play Eagles wide right.
