Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
Bigger sum than what? We haven't got what we asked for him either cash or part-ex, at least not yet. As for the rest it's hardly a best kept secret and I'm sure OC has given it a passing thought or two. You might notice there are quite a few players out of work right now, including an England centre half. Times are tough. We'll just have to wait and see.Relentless09 wrote:we need to sell now for a bigger sum of money or get him to extend his contract or he will end up leaving at a reduced price or on a free

I get the feeling if he doesn't go after January(if we keep him this window) Coyle might get him to sign a year extension as he knows the value of what we can get for him!

Well I'm not going to lie and say he's about to move to Accrington Stanley for a fiver and a packet of jellie babies am I?Lord Kangana wrote:The Man wrote:Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs enquired at the start of the window. 20m was what they were told, so all three dropped their interest but asked to be kept informed of developments.
Arsenal however have moved onto Jagielka and a French CB named Sahko or something. Spurs look to have moved onto Christopher Samba, so that leaves Liverpool, who look more and more likely to put in an official bid soon. It's unlikely to meet our valuation though, so either we'll buckle and take the money or stand firm. The latter seems alot more likely, thankfully.
I wouldn't rule out Arsenal coming back in though. Jagielka is 50/50 for them and Sahko is more 20/80.
So, if I read this right, from you insider knowledge we can glean:
1) Gary Cahill is a centre half that interests a few clubs
2) These clubs may or may not be interested depending on certain things.
You're definitely in the right thread, I'll give you that.

Why would Cahill want to do that

Has Cahill said anything the past few months? Any murmerings of discontent? Curious that's all.

If he has, I've heard/read nothing. Lad's in a bit of an awkward spot right now. He's a Bolton player doing his best with everybody speculating their bollox off about him and nobody really knowing anything. I just hope it sorts out for him and for us, soon, one way or the other.seanworth wrote:Has Cahill said anything the past few months? Any murmerings of discontent? Curious that's all.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
To me that is a positive sign. It likely means that he is happy with the way the club is dealing with the matter. If no offers come in I don't think it is totally hopeless that he sign another contract with us, thus allowing us to profit when an offer does come in. Personally though I think someone will come in and bid for him over the next week or so.TANGODANCER wrote:If he has, I've heard/read nothing. Lad's in a bit of an awkward spot right now. Lofthouse Lower, did your contact say when the medical was/is? Would be a bit unusual for him to slope off from England camp, although he could well be sorting something while he's down this end of our green and pleasant.
Anyway, in case it's not been mentioned, here's a Daily Mail story touting Cahill for Arsenal. I've pasted below in case anybody doesn't want to give them the clicks.

EXCLUSIVE: Cahill targeted as Vermaelen injury gives Arsenal added urgency to sign defender
By Sami Mokbel Last updated at 9:53 AM on 8th August 2011
Arsenal have stepped up their interest in Gary Cahill after central defender Thomas Vermaelen was injured in the weekend defeat at Benfica.
The Gunners’ chief scout Steve Rowley was dispatched to the Reebok Stadium on Friday night to run the rule over Cahill in Bolton’s 1-0 defeat by Levante in a clear indication the club are ready to ramp up their interest.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has put a dominant central defender with Premier League experience at the top of his summer shopping list, and that became even more of a priority after Vermaelen was injured in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat.
The Gunners have already had a £12million offer for Everton’s England defender Phil Jagielka rejected as the Merseyside club want around £18m. Arsenal are reluctant to pay that, given Jagielka is 29 this month.
Wenger retains an interest in Birmingham’s Scott Dann, and Arsenal have also had an £8m offer for Chris Samba turned down by Blackburn. They have watched former Aston Villa stopper Cahill, 25, more than 20 times.
The depth of Wenger’s transfer war chest has been unclear because of uncertainty over the futures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri.
Cahill has a £17m release clause in his Bolton contract, though the Gunners are reluctant to go that high given he has under 12 months to run on his existing deal.

I wish he'd just f*ck off and leave now tbh.
For money, obviously.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
So you guys are angry on Wenger for not wanting to pay 17 million for Cahill? I would understand if he behaved like Barca and talked about Cahill all the time and still not pay. he made one enquiry and when the price was quoted said thanks, but no thanks. I expect to see Coyle again on sky sport news advertising CahillTKIZ! wrote:Agreed. Wenger really has lost the plot. Team leaking goals. I know sign another attacking playerCAPSLOCK wrote:Reet

Aye if only we were honourable like Arsenal and snatched him when he was 15 then bitched and moaned when, 10 years later, he wanted to move clubs.
