Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
Would that be actually 1 goal in three games in the last 5 years?
Look its clear he'd be better than nothing, but he'd manage about ten games in a season.
Ask Newcastle fans, not Unioted ones. One club is like us and relies on its big signings. The other has so many it can survive without a few.

You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

hmmm... but if he averages a goal every 3 games and can only play 9 games - then that's only 3 goals....David Lee's Hair wrote:I'd like any of our strikers to not have it and average a goal every 3 games.... As he's managed the last 5 seasons or so...
and in the last 2 years - it's actually a goal every 6 games - whilst playing for the one of the best teams in the country with plenty of service and a team always on the front foot...

Danny Welbeck, Federico Macheda?
Both are young but have 2/3 years prem experience.
Did anyone else see that interview with OC outside Old Trafford all suited and booted? maybe!

I agree Owen's recent strike rate is nothing to write home about and he would not be on any list of strikers that I'd like to see at the club this season so maybe I'm guilty of trying to find a player that fits into Nixon's criteria

Re: TKIZ's impossibly brilliant all new Transfer Rumours thr
Its a moot point because as said I'm sure he signed a new contract last year, but I've been hooked...
Serioulsy though, bar last season and the first two at Newcaslte he's played 30+ games every year since 1997-98.... ah the power of wikipedia...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/shared/bsp ... _32371.stm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Season before he managed 9 goals in 31 games (20 as a sub) in all comps... thats more than a goal every 6 for me... so granted not quite one in 3.... but not too far off...
Ok, so season 1 at Newcastle 11 games 7 goals... broken metatarsal, then cruciate... out until the end of season 2.... Season 3 - 33 games 13 goals, Season 4 - 32 games 10 goals.... If we can get 30+ games out of him I'd take him.... and he'll get near enough double figures goal wise... and I'd take that... And I think we'd cope with missing say 10 games a season with him injured if we got goals in the other 30 games he managed to play...Lord Kangana wrote:Would that be actually 1 goal in three games in the last 5 years?

Go one I've bitten again... he managed 5 goals in 17 last season (of which 13 appearances were as a sub)...thebish wrote:hmmm... but if he averages a goal every 3 games and can only play 9 games - then that's only 3 goals....

So 3 of the last 5 seasons he's not managed 30 apps?
One might conclude a trend is developing there.

If it was Owen then if he could stay fit he'd get us 15+ goals he is still a great finisher.....

Not really, unless you're looking for one, anyhow, its 3 of the last six... 2005/6 & 2006/7... and last season, though as you said before....Lord Kangana wrote:So 3 of the last 5 seasons he's not managed 30 apps?

...it does beg the question how many would he have played at a club without the talent his current one can call upon? And for that howmany goals he'd get playing week in week out...Lord Kangana wrote: One club is like us and relies on its big signings. The other has so many it can survive without a few.

Wanderers are struggling to talk Liverpool down on their valuation of Frenchman N'gog, believed to be in excess of £4m.
Kenny Dalglish and his assistant Steve Clarke were both present at the Reebok on Friday night but are reluctant to let the youngster leave for a couple of weeks while Luis Suarez gets back to full fitness after spending most of the summer on international duty with Uruguay.
Fellow target Jerome is also currently nursing a heel injury, making it unlikely he would be available for Wanderers even if he were to complete a deal worth £3.5m this week.
No respite for the first few weeks then. Even Sturridge would be banned for the first 3 games (straight red card last gme last season). Maybe get N'gog on deadline day if chipmunk is recovered.

If you're suggesting McFadden as Player X.... I'd be surprised if Nixon "wasn't aware" of his availability.

Nixon has just tweeted we are still in for SWP and Ngog, plus the mystery man. He has ruled out Owen and Defoe though.

I hope its Anelka, or Doyle. Some of the other players mentioned wouldn't really improve us that much.

Doyle wouldn't get enough goals for us either. He's about as much of a goal threat as Davo.
Good player, but we need somebody who can at least look like they'll touch double figures.
N'Gog would fit us perfectly... And as good as Sturridge is, £3 Million for a one year contact then his wages, would be far, far too much for us

Its not Anelka as he's played for us already, and the player in question hasn't. No way will Wolves sell Doyle, and I'd not call him a crowd pleaser either!wanderers_on_tour wrote:I hope its Anelka, or Doyle. Some of the other players mentioned wouldn't really improve us that much.
Lets not get too worked up about this guy, if its not even "printable" yet probably means it won't happen!

Precisely.. Since when have tabloid hacks, been hesitant to link names with clubs! Sounds like he's making stuff up to get a few people to follow him!BWFC_Insane wrote:Its not Anelka as he's played for us already, and the player in question hasn't. "It is always more difficult if you don't have the finance," said Coyle. "I don't get too caught up in what everybody else has got. Good luck to them. I have to make the best of the hand that I am dealt."
That comment seems to contradict the story in the BN about PG and ED saying the money was there id OC wanted it...
