Re: Loan Watch 2010/11
Thanks. Intriguing position in which to show promise... but they're right, he'll probably need another loan spell at (with respect to all involved) a higher level than the Scottish second tier. Plenty of time yet.

Never seen him play anything other than centre-back, but I'd wager he might have a career a bit further forward as he is very comfortable on the ball.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:What position's he playing in for the Bairns?

Well if Cahill stays for this season and goes next I don't see no harm in making this lad his replacement!

Have you actually seen him play? Or are you making this judgement off what people have said of him in 2nd division Scottish football??

I was referring to Tals-Biggest-Fan who has a tendency to get a little to excited to early.
After Tom Eaves was on for 5 minutes in one of the American friendlies he stated Eaves was already better than SKD.
I'm actually a huge fan of what the likes of you and t_o_molloy do in relaying information on the youngsters, espescially for the folks like me who are overseas. It's just some people who haven't seen them often react like they've just watched a 5 minute clip full of seal dribbles!

You type Daniel Braaten into google and 2 of the top 5 results are "daniel braaten football manager" and "daniel braaten youtube".
That's all a scout needs....right?

Re: Loan Watch 2010/11
OK, but there's nothing wrong with having a ball-playing centre-back. Same could go for Connolly, who last season was talking about playing defensive midfield to help him break into our 1st team; this season he's much more likely to break into our firsts at the back. I've nothing against players trying different positions to round out their education – the Dutch do it all the time and let's not forget Nolan started in defence – and if it makes Bennett better then yeah, let's try him farther forward... but like I say, I welcome a defender who's comfortable on the ball and can help us build from the back. In that way we'll miss Cahill greatly, if he ever gets bought...Lofthouse Lower wrote:Never seen him play anything other than centre-back, but I'd wager he might have a career a bit further forward as he is very comfortable on the ball.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:What position's he playing in for the Bairns?

It's a fair point, and I think he'd be capable. Seems to be progressing well.

Forgot that saracsm isn't well read over the internet as for seing Rhys play I've seen him a couple of times over the past few years and i've been impressed with him every time he plays!pagey_BWFC wrote:I was referring to Tals-Biggest-Fan who has a tendency to get a little to excited to early.

Am I not right in saying it was a more prosaic approach from Allardyce re Nolan, in that he didn't think he could head the bloody ball. Which would be a major flaw in a centre half?Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:OK, but there's nothing wrong with having a ball-playing centre-back. You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.
Yes, you can stare into the abyss, but it's staring right back.

Re: Loan Watch 2010/11
Falkirk beat Patick Thistle 2-1 to get their first win of the season I looked up his performance from the Falkrik fans on their forum and the only responce which had Bennett in was
"Wallace, Murdoch, Bennett, wee Fulton {first 45mins} Farid and Higgy were the star performers and no failures, chuffed. !!!!"

Haven't seen him play - but would always be wary about signing a centre-half from Arsenal.
