This summer it was clear that you needed a dominant centre half, a world class midfielder and a top striker - I don't know about Gervinho (bar his stupid haircut) but he's purchased a Finnish rightback in Jenkinson and paid £12m for someone who has never played above Division Three. I would be VERY surprised if Coyle hasn't got a couple of targets lined up for pretty speedy CB acquisition should we sell Cahill. I also reckon Coyle is also pretty keen to flog him and get rid of the ongoing uncertainty that would simply roll over in to the "will he sign a new contract" and then "will we have to sell him in January" uncertainties should we not sell him now.

The impression I got last night was that as a manager Coyle would prefer to keep GC. As you'd expect.
