Yes but plenty of enquiries.Hoboh wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:The chief scout from Arsenal has watched Cahill 25 times. And still no bid..........Armchair Wanderer wrote:Apparently Arsenal's chief scout was at QPR yesterday, I wonder if someone let Cahill know before kickoff.

There could be all shades of enquiry without ever manifesting themselves as bids, from
Is Gary Cahill available?
Is Gary Cahill available and have we heard correctly that his release clause is £17.5m
through to
We would be prepared to offer as a formal bid £17.25m, are you interested in that?
If the answer to them from us is "no", or "yes and we won't accept a penny less", then that could well be why there's been no formal bids. What would be the point of preparing the paperwork if it's fairly certain one side or another isn't going to budge?
Sure, Wenger or whoever could go to the trouble to put a formal £10m bid together, but maybe they've come to the conclusion that there's no point.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
True, but Arsenal seem happy enough to put bids that won't be accepted in for Jagielka. End of the day until Wenger or anyone else actually puts an actual bid in the rest is irrelevant. I bet we've enquirer for a load of players this summer and not followed up with anything further!Worthy4England wrote:Yes but plenty of enquiries.Hoboh wrote:BWFC_Insane wrote:The chief scout from Arsenal has watched Cahill 25 times. Agreed. Just saying, like. No bids doesn't necessarily mean no interest.

D wish OC would stop saying "He can play for any team, that's any team, I mean any team" . Sound a bit auctioneer-like. If they come, they come. If not, get him into another contract.Worthy4England wrote:Agreed. Just saying, like. No bids doesn't necessarily mean no interest.

TD reading between the lines from the fans forum it's going to be tough going getting Cahill to sign a new deal for obvious reasons. I imagine Coyle is talking him up at every opportunity so that if no bid is forthcoming Cahill knows that Coyle has stood by him and given the top clubs every opportunity and not held him back. Also I guess so he also knows how valued he is here. Getting him to sign would still be a long shot. FWIW I expect Arsenal to come in for him before end of the window, whether it's in time or with enough money, who knows?TANGODANCER wrote:D wish OC would stop saying "He can play for any team, that's any team, I mean any team" . Cannot see him signing another contract. He'll bide his time for this season and pocket a fair old wedge next year. If we don't sell him in next 2 weeks i can't see him leaing in January either. Would you? He's not unhappy at the club and won't mind another year.

Couple of stones cast into the water here.
SWP will sign after we have played City.
Cahill will leave after the Liverpool game.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
I'd be surprised if SWP comes to us. As for Cahill I really think nobody knows. It all depends what goes on in the mind of Wenger, so owt could happen. Always has seemed to me that the press are more keen to sell him to Arsenal than Wenger is to buy him. He's been available all summer, Coyle is adamant he won't be sold on the cheap and from the fans forum, I believe him. So for me it takes a massive sea change in Wengers mindset for it to happen. But owt is possible I guess!
Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
I think Arsenal are way overvaluing Bendtner so I doubt we will go for it, unless we add another 3m to Cahill's price after last night.YtarmyYtarmy wrote:Good shout, what bout Cahill to Arsenal with Bendtner plus cash ??Lord Kangana wrote:Couple of stones cast into the water here.

Re: Official Gary Cahill transfer thread
The way this game is going for Man Utd, they could do worse than get Cahill to replace their sick notes, specially if they persist with Smalling at right back.
Mind they could do with Jussi as well, to replace that bag of shite Fergie has signed in goal!

Was thinking the same. Their keeper has been crap and both Ferdinand and Vidic both taken out of the game.BWFC_Insane wrote:The way this game is going for Man Utd, they could do worse than get Cahill to replace their sick notes, specially if they persist with Smalling at right back.

Their keeper reminds me of Jussi when he was younger.
He'll blossom given time I'd wager.

May be so but we didn't pay 18M for Jussi and the pressure of that fee and being under scrutiny every week at the scum are a bit different!Lord Kangana wrote:Their keeper reminds me of Jussi when he was younger.

They can still brush aside teams like West Brom in their stride. And teams like West Brom make up the majority of this division.
