Bolton are set to beat West Brom to the signature of Rangers’ Gregg Wylde.
The Trotters had an opening bid of £350,000 rejected, but plan to make a new offer for the winger.
Albion also had a £330,000 bid snubbed by Gers.
Rangers do not want to lose Wylde, but he wants more money.
they rejected our bid?

I'm not going to join the "Stuff You SWP" queue just yet. Especially if we've offered "half" what Wigan have, and they've offered him £50kpw. Rightly or wrongly, the bloke's on £80kpw and seems to want to stay at his alma mater; would you willingly quarter your own wage?
The good thing is we don't feel anything like as desperate as we did: perhaps because Eagles shows promise; perhaps because Tuncay offers another option; perhaps because we're looking at Wylde (left-winger I know but it helps); perhaps, slightly misguidedly, because we've just won 4-0.
I'd welcome SWP to this club and I'm realistic enough to realise that he would be (joint-)top of our wage range. It's entirely possible (and correct) that OC is chasing strikers first, but I'm not going to start damning SWP just because he won't willingly take a 70% wage cut.

I think Coyle already did that for us, in his own subtle way.

Anelka what?

Reminds me of when we were linked with Jimmy Bullard. He went to Hull on big wages... and he's still there... on big wages.
The players you fail to sign never lose you any money.

So, anyway, moving on.
Considering we're bidding a bag of tracksuits and some footballs for a Scottish winger and we're allegedly being outmuscled in the wages stakes by Wigan, does anybody expect us to make a big forward signing if we don't sell Cahill?

I expect us to sign a forward.
I expect him to be decried as either not good enough or too good.
I expect his cost to be decried as either not enough or too much.

We've bid 4M for NGog and that is ongoing. If we can't reach an agreement with Liverpool I fully expect us to look elsewhere. In my opinion I'd be surprised if we didn't sort something out for NGog, who wants to come here to get some games, but you just never know!Lord Kangana wrote:So, anyway, moving on.

Depends what you call a 'big forward signing'. I do expect us to make another couple of signings minimum, regardless of whether we sell Cahill or not. If we do sell Cahill, I just expect the deals will go through quicker and probably result in us paying a little bit over the top whether it be in terms of wages or fee.Lord Kangana wrote:So, anyway, moving on.

Haven't we made bids of 3.5M for N'Gog, 3.5M for Jerome, 4M for SWP, 5M for Jeffren and 400K for Wylde?
Over 15M, can't say we're not throwing money at it.
If Jerome gets injured, we have to pull out.
If Jeffren won't speak to us, we have to pull out.
If N'Gog/Wylde bid get rejected we have to work out whether it's worth going back in with a bid (which I expect is what we're doing now for both)
If Wigan are prepared to break their own and our wage budget to sign SWP then not much we can do. Doubt he'll go there anyway, if he's struggling to come to terms with leaving a club like City, not sure the answer for him is going to tinpot Wigan, even if he stands to earn an extra 15k!
